He's started for us in the CL and played as good a game as we would have expected any of our first team players to play. That alone should have been enough to promote him. Pep and/or Tito would already have promoted him by now and he'd possibly be playing CM.

Pep surely would have. Samper is special and that goes even without saying.

Pep would have promoted him no doubt, i'm sure the only reason Lucho hasn't promoted him yet was because he had rafinha and he also has Sergi Roberto and promoting would have been a waste if he wasm't going to get much time. But with Xavi and maybe Sergi gone next season its the time to bring Samper to the spotlight.

I don't think Pep would have promoted him last summer.

Pep had a three step plan for integrating player into the first team I seem to remember. With the last stage before promotion being an undisputed leader of the B team and a good showing on first team appearances. All that mirrors this season more than last.

I don't think Pep really promoted many players at 19 at all. Bojan was at a younger age but that was seen as a mistake.

So going by how Pep managed the club it is more likely Samper would have got promoted this summer.

If he wouldn't have been promoted he'd have at the very least been used with the first team more often than he is now.

Not sure he would have used Samper all that much this season but will never know I suppose.

Dont forget he barely used Barta at the older age when Barca were looking for CBs and Batra was already voted best defender in Segunda.

The only player at 19/20 can remember Pep giving a lot of playing time from B team was Thiago and he had been there for years and out grown that team. Not sure Samper has done the same thing.

I think the reason we are not using Samper that much is because we have another world class dm in Masche. I really want Lucho to try him at cm though

He can.He showed that in the last few matches he played.But he doesn´t get much playing time and with Samper it could get worse.
If Xavi really leaves we probably should keep him till we can sign a midfielder.
