Little bulldozer. Its sometimes funny how eager he is too beat his man. Most of the time he is failing but he really never stops trying.

His dribbling is on point, when he builds enough confidence he could be a very dangerous rwb. That dribble when he left those 2 like they dont exist was something we lacked since alves.

He and Mingueza have a pretty good connection to each other. Right now at least IMO, he's the best of the attacking players on form when comparing the other NT players, Pullisic has been pretty shit, for the most part, this season but it seems like he's slowly regaining form again going by his last couple of outings.

Ya that was brilliant but his dribbling is not very good. I've seen defenders take the ball off him from nearly every dribble he has tried so far. I'm sure he'll improve now though with the confidence he gained last night

What's important is not that he succeeds on the dribble every time but his willingness to try. It makes the defenders have to deal with the threat of a dribble (as opposed to a Roberto who they know just needs to be contained from crossing).

Alba is picking up his dribbling game, too. Koeman is probably encouraging them both to take on defenders around the box.

Dani Alves has had years in Sevilla before he came to us as complete man. Not saying Dest will ever fill his shoes but you have to remember he came from a weaker league and is still very young.

Koeman obviously knows what he is doing and knows you have to "endure" few bad displays and not drop those youngsters as all of this is learning process.

A different beast when in confidence. Speed, good finishing, amazingly quick feet and futsal panna technique. Could go very far.

A 21 year old Dani Alves for Sevilla. Worth watching. A reminder of how impatient modern football fans are.

Imagine having finally couple of players confident and fast enough to attempt dribble, compared to last 3 seasons when only messi was capable of it. No wonder we did nothing.

Definitely raw just like Dest.

Used to love him later on in his Sevilla career when he wore number 4, was ridiculously attacking and used to take free kicks. Was buzzing when he signed him.

what's the point you are trying to make here? alves(while raw) kept his own defensively against denilson and assisted sevilla's goal with a good cross.

Plenty of give aways, poor positioning and rash fouls.

If a 21 year old Alves was under the same microscope as today's talent then his game would have been picked apart too.

For a bit of reference, when Sergio Ramos broke into the Sevilla first team as RB (moving Alves to RM) people on the forum I posted on at the time claimed Ramos was world class and a one man wrecking ball down that side. I said that anyone who shares the wing with Dani Alves is not going to be a one machine.

Goes to show how Alves at the same age wasn't seen as the next great fullback in football as he ended up being a few years later.

Can definitely see his mentality and drive in his clips though, which Dest doesn't seem to have.

And no I'm not saying Dest will be as good or better. Progression isn't linear and I'm not sitting in on the training sessions nor knowing the mental side of his game or his determination to be the best.
