Sergio Busquets

Best defensive midfielder in the world IMO. He's clearly overtaken Mascherano, and only Cambiasso could claim to be on par with him.

Intelligent, tidy on ball, gritty, quick minded and kind of evil. No wonder SAF wants him, apparently. Keep your hand off, rednose. Boy is class.

Eh, I'm not so sure about the best, but top 3 defo.

i loved that goal he made out of that tackle, was a bit disappointed that he still makes his usual over-confident mistakes where he gives the ball away with a stupid pass but it's nothing to worry about, he's still young.

oh and his beard looked fuckin awesome

Here we go. For all those who didn't worry, thumbs up. For all those who did, there's always another rumor later to 'not get worried' about.

Midfielder Sergio Busquets has verbally agreed to a contract extension with Barcelona until 2016, and an official announcement from the club is expected within the next few days.

The Spanish international is gradually becoming an indispensable member of coach Pep Guardiola’s squad, and the Catalan giants commenced negotiations some weeks ago to tie him down to a longer-term deal at the Camp Nou.

The 22-year-old’s current agreement expires in 2013, but with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea looking to swoop, president Sandro Rosell concluded the discussions this week after agreeing terms with the player.

Rosell had previously remarked a few days ago: “We have had offers, but he intends to stay and the negotiations should come to fruition next week.” His words are on the verge of becoming a reality.

Busquets' stay will be extended by a further three years along with a significant salary increase, and the midfielder will appear before the media in the coming days to formalise the deal.

Barca are now likely to focus their attention on retaining the services of full-back Dani Alves, and although a renewal currently appears some way off, Guardiola has claimed that keeping the Brazilian at the club is “fundamental”.
