8 Barca players nominated in UEFA's team of the year and they managed to leave Busquets out once again but players like Hazard and Bale who did nothing in Europe in 2015 are there. Unbelievable.

Guys I got a question, is there a game where we were high pressed by the opponent and Busquets got specifically targeted. I feel a tactic ike that would hurt us badly due to Busquets always being the man available for the pass, intercepting passes and second ball and aways finding the man available out of a tight situation.
It must have been done and I would like to see how we dealt with it.

I was listening to football show on Sirius/XM last night and a commentator from the BBC was raving about Busi, said it was a shame he doesn't get mentioned for the ballon d'or. He also said Madrid would never sign a player like Busi because he isn't flashy enough, which according to him is a huge part of their problems.

Well, he kinda looks like he wants to sell crack to children which I believe is a bit of a hindrance in his career. He gets overlooked for many awards. Such a gamble when you get a face...

I think its all about his rep as a cheating diver due to inter combined with better marketed players for the same position and several barca players being more in the limelight.

Busi is far too intelligent to be exposed by simple pressing, his control of the ball is excellent, that's why he has been escaping from pressing throughout his entire career. Alonso and Pirlo are the types of players who will be exposed due to their lack of dribbling skills. Plus he is almost never in advanced positions to double or triple mark him. Sure, Busi may lose the ball once/twice/three times a game due to sloppyness/pressing/overconfidence, but he is just too good.

Mourinho did it with Real sometime around 11/12. He made Özil and Benzema put pressure on Busquets while simultaneously cutting off passing angles. It required quite a bit of individual effort to beat one of the markers and create any kind of space in the middle of the pitch. IIRC, Simeone also made at least one of his strikers man mark Busquets when not in possession.
Man marking Busquets would actually hurt Barcelona less than 2 years ago. He can drop in between the CBs like he did under Pep/Tito and drag his marker out while Pique steps forward to provide the passing outlet. Not to mention having TWO dribblers-creators drifting into the center to ensure the numerical superiority in the midfield
Actually, Busquets has been surging forward more frequently under Lucho compared to earlier when he often played the sweeper in between the CBs
