He has a bad game, the team suffer. Not a coincidence. He ought to be fatigued, hope he won't play vs Leverkusen.

"Day 1820 of monitoring the situation of Busquets over here in Chelsea. Still nothing new to report, player wants to stay in Barca. We keep on monitoring."

I'm not sure I understand this pay raise talks with Busi, wasn't he renewed (with improved wages) last year ? or is my memory failing me ?

He's still underpaid. Makes less than Piqué, Alves, IIRC.

I think he is on more than both of them, sure last year he was moved up into the Xavi, Iniesta bracket and on over 200k a week.

Barca are going to have a hard time with EPL wages on offer.

As a club Barca will match any of them wage wise but individuals will be harder. There will be EPL teams where Busi would be their best player and will offer him 500k plus soon. Barca paying the likes of Messi/Neymar huge contracts will find it difficult.

Would even bet that some average EPL teams soon will be offering the likes of Roberto 200k a week and it would make sense for them to do so as he could be their best player.

Going to be really difficult for Barca to keep players happy with wages in coming years I think.

Edit: Can find any links that say over 200k. Maybe is lower. The other worrying thing is his buy out of 175m. There are EPL teams what would pay that for him.

I don't think there is a team in this world that would pay 175 m. for a DM. As far as the buyout is concerned, we're safe with Busi.

I also looked for the article I read last year, can't find it back but like JamDav I am fairly certain it said that Busquets was just under Xavi/Iniesta in the wage tiers, making him 4th or 5th best paid player of the team at the time.

In any case; this is unsustainable, handing over pay raises for a good half-season is ludacrous.

But I'm sure Bartomeu has it all under control.. :coffee:
