Sergio Busquets

We didn't replace Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Puyi, Masche... with a exact replica of them and we are doing fine. Why everbody insists we have to find a replica of Busi to replace him? We can play with a different player there, we played with Van Bommel, Rafa, Yaya, Pep, even Xavi there. Even Pep was doing amazing with Fernandinho at City, why do we have to have a Busi or his replica?

Replacement doesn't mean an exact replica or mk 2.

The question is who will replace Busquets at the CDM position in the long term....

Nico, Frenkie or Kessie are best positioned. Busquets himself backs Nico.

Any physical/athletic box to box midfielder with tactical discipline can play DM. It's not witchcraft. See Yaya Toure. Or Rodri at City, who had to learn to stay back. We won't find a player as good as Busquets, but that's life. Special players are rare.

I think he's quite elegant for his size, but lacks intensity (or his positioning is slightly off, which makes him look late). A bit like Ilaix... you can see the talent, but they haven't put it all together and maybe never will.

That's what I'm saying. You read everywhere, even Busi's interview, that there is no one similar to prime Busi. I agree but we don't need one, we can be even better with a different type of DM.

I think he's elegant in moments. But most of the time, he's clumsy, with some sparks of brilliance. Could use a loan really, but he could just as well develop here since Xavi seems to fancy rotating a lot, and using a bigger squad.

Game was too quick for him and had no one there to look after him with FDJ on bench.

Passing was atrocious as was his closing down and constantly leaving gaps in DM area.

One of many that were poor but. Him, Alba and Auba well below level.

Unsurprisingsly struggled against a Bundesliga team with their pressing and intensity. These types of games aint it for him.
