Im not sure where you live but in the US its pretty normal to name a kid after yourself. I know many many jr's, myself included . Sometime sits a family tradition and sometimes people just like their name lol. Id say arrogance doesn't usually play a part in it.

In the dirty madrid scums cases though I might make an exception....

I agree, that's very common... I don't know how frequently it happens in Spain, but in Latin America is not unusual at all to be named after your father or grandfather...

The father and grandfather thing are very different, though. It's one thing to name your child after yourself. It's a totally different story to name them after someone you loved/admired/respected...
