The Italian Football Federation’s disciplinary commission has banned Lazio’s Stefano Mauri for six months following their latest betting probe.

The capital captain was placed under investigation amidst claims that the results of Lazio-Genoa from May 14, 2011, and Lecce-Lazio, from May 22, 2011, were pre-arranged.

FIGC prosecutor Stefano Palazzi had called for the Italian international to be suspended for four years and six months for his alleged involvement in the fix.

Palazzi had also asked for Lazio, Genoa and Lecce to be handed point deductions going into the 2013-14 campaign.

That has not happened though, with Lazio just picking up a €40,000 fine instead.

Stefano Ferrario was also handed a six-month stop, Carlo Gervasoni two months, while Mario Cassano was give a four-month penalty. Alessandro Zamperini has been suspended for two years.

Omar Milanetto, Massimiliano Benassi and Antonio Rosati were cleared of any wrongdoing.

I don't think Juventus will be walking the league coming up, they have strengthened in Tevez but Milan will be in much better shape, also without the chaos starting the season with essentially a completely new team.

Napoli are stronger, Fiorentina are stronger, ditto Roma. The quality is much, much higher than recent past.

That's true, I expect a very balanced league this year.

I think there are many decent coaches who could get Inter to at least if nothing else play well. I mean Allegri got Milan to dominate most games with the fodder of all fodder midfields, Muntari-Ambrosini-Nocerino for a few games..

Mazzarri is not one of them, going to fail miserably.
