That response is at least better than Arsenal comparison.

Must feel a real tough guy trying to insult people on internet eh?

Keep it up keyboard warrior.

Wouldn't be surprised if jamdav is Bartomeu himself

Cule4life - How would you like the new stadium to be built?

You want to debate that or resort to insults?

I swear this place is getting worse. Its like some conspiracy theory site where if you dont agree with the general opinion people dont debate it with you they just hurl insults.

I actually agree with jamdav here. I also support building a new stadium. It is good and prestigious for the club.

Who cares if it's sponsored. We will all call it camp nou anyway.

1. I dont trust this board at all. Wouldnt be shocked if they pocket some of the money for themselves.
2. This board has made no planning on reinforcing the team in forever and now the socis want to entrust them with spending 600m. I want my team reinforced first. A 600m stadium is useless with a team struggling to sustain its past success
3. Who the hell makes 20 year deals these days and that too at half the rate at which man united get for their TRAINING GROUND? Again wouldnt be shocked if there were some kickbacks involved

Yes which is still a lot less than they would have had to pay if no naming right to be given up.

Strange how people complain about the new stadium affecting funds spent on team but alternative means even less being available.

The scale of this project is too big for my taste, and I think that we've already discussed this somewhere in the Camp Nou thread.

Another issue is the that next board post 2016 will see itself put before accomplished facts. Their power to pass a budget will turn into a farce, because

a) there will be a necessity to take the loan and pay it back in a 4-year time frame, while at the same time there is the necessity to turn a 30 mil. € profit per year

b) another 200 mil € come from 'internal sources', hence money branched off of operational business

Plus, the plan is based on the assumption that the club is free of debt by 2016, which I doubt. Consequently, the next board will be reduced to being a vicarious agent for the old one.

In these circumstances, what would it matter if the socios vote for Laporta, George Soros or the Dave Clark Five in the next election ? The crown jewel of the board, the effective power to pass a budget as the board sees fit is diminished to a bare minimum.

Assuming it was another board and you didnt have those worries would you be happy with the naming rights if it meant less money being taken away from the football side of things?

How would you like them to approach building a new stadium then?

As for the next board being and agent of the last this will almost always be the case when it comes to issues like this due to the length of time these things take to happen.

Im not anal about renaming the stadium if thats what you mean. It will be always be camp nou for me. Also i know camp nou is need of a remodel. But due to the concerns i stated i cant support the current project

Ok, some people are dead against the naming thing as well was not sure if that was an issue for you.

To be fair there is nothing to suggest that the board would be taking money out of the club and lining their own pockets from the deal. You may believe them to be incompetent but to suggest that is going a bit far in my opinion.

I do agree that the numbers suggested seem low in comparison to other similar deals.

I wouldn't want it, mostly due to emotional reasons though, which I could put aside when I see a financial plan I'm convinced the club can shoulder and which guarentees that the sporting excellence doesn't suffer. Currently, I'm not convinced which is why I worry about it.

Yeah, I tend to be really sentimental about history & such, so it would be a little weird not to play in the Camp Nou. Same reason why I'm hesitant to get behind Inter moving out of the Meazza even though it would be a good move financially.

And the naming rights thing... it doesn't matter if the fans still refer to it as Camp Nou, it still would have happened & it would go against what the club stands for.

It will still get called the Camp Nou regardless.

What the club 'stands for' is constantly changing and above all what the club stands for is to represent the members. Who have voted and approved the development.
