We were trying to get him on loan in August and his dad even confirmed it but it was too late and he went to Salzburg instead.

We ended up just using Casado and Bernal(Before his Injury) and the rest is history.

We were lucky we were broke. Casado would never have happened. Few others too as Xavi was always whining about inability to sign.

He was the "right" fit and we were desperate with Bernal just getting injured and Frenkie and Gavi still healing. Difficult to say if he would have done better here than Salzburg - sometimes a player just doesn't click with a club/system/coach.
