He's beaten prime Fed on hard and grass...and is 3-1 on him at Aus Open

The clay court merchant died in 2008

Yeah well, Davydenko leads Nadal on head to heads. Ever heard of him?

I don't need to see head to heads to know that Federer is the superior grass and hardcourt player.

Nadal's grand slam number breakdown are way too tilted towards one surface for my liking. Plus the surface I hate the most. Ofcourse he's a cracking player on other surfaces too but him on clay is just something totally different.

Poor retort.

Fed and Nadal have played lots of GS matches. So, large sample size, which matters in H2H. Davydenko is not a GOAT contender who played lots of high profile matches with Nadal

3-1 to Fed at Wimbledon, 3-1 to Nadal at AO, 6-0 to Nadal at FO.

Nadal is equal to him on Fed's preferred surfaces (4-4), while owning him on clay (6-0). Never claimed Nadal is better on grass and hard court than Fed, just that he's managed to match him there (despite being inferior on those surfaces), while demolishing Fed on Nadal's preferred surface. That matters.

You're welcome
nice exchanges. What is official term for hitting the ball with racket going between legs. Not talking about testicles.

Like I said, Tennis isn't just about head to heads against one particular player. Maybe your game suits XYZ the most and so on.

On hard courts, Federer has 11 grand slams. Nadal has 6....

Add to that the eye test, it's pretty obvious Federer is clearly better on Hard Courts.

On grass and clay it's obvious on both their respective fortes....

Tennis just isn't about H2H but why shouldn't H2H matter when deciding between GOAT candidates (who all have 20 or more slams and have played so many GS matches vs each other)

You just don't want it to because your favorite player has a terrible record in GS matches against both Rafa (4-10) and Novak (6-11). That's 10-21 combined...

Federer has a few advantages (superior talent, more aesthetically pleasing game) but in acknowledging that you can't deny his flaws (poorer mentality in GS/high profile matches, terrible H2H record v both main rivals).

i have reached a point where i believe kygrios is looking for excuses to rile himself up. It doesn?t affect his game negatively in fact, he somehow produces aces after ranting. It?s like a superpower.

I'm not denying the flaws but head to heads have it's own context too.

For instance, your game being tailor made for a particular opponent.

Also, until 2012 or 13, when Federer had consistent prime form he was leading on head to heads against Nole but Nole won more games after that when Federer declined more.

My point is that Federer is the superior Hard Court player. The Grans Slam stats on Hard Courts are a pretty decent sample size since it spans over many years and have a wide variety of opponents.

Your point about head to heads isn't irrelevant obviously but overall Federer has had a better record on Hard Courts.

Hard Court: Nole>RF>Rafa

Clay Court: Rafa>Nole>RF

Grass Court: RF>Nole>Rafa

Based on the careers they have had on these surfaces overall.
