Yeah Tennis is an aristocrat's sport/rich man's sport.

Most of the Tennis fans globally are rich snobbish people which is why you often see such snobbish arrogance from Tennis fans.

There's a huge layer of pretentious attitude in these fans. They only like classy things apparently which is why Djokovic is so hated.

Proper Posh Sport(can't lie though, I love the sport as it is)......

Nothing like the Working Class sport Football is.

A girlfriend of mine has been involved all of her life with tennis, she's been to junior tournaments back in the day, but the lack of sponsorship drifted her into coaching, kids mostly. Without proper funding it's impossible, also you need someone to spot your talent.

Serena and Venus grew up in Compton and their family was very blue collar. They are the exception yes but it's not so exclusively rich.

Don't believe it is exclusively rich but certainly an advantage to be had if you do grow up rich.

Isn't Djokovic from low-middle class family? His level of English would lead me to believe otherwise. But that is what I read on internet or someone here said.

I believe Djokovic's dad was a pro skier.

TBF there is an advantage to many sports for being rich. A lot of European footballers come from well off families (their parents are rich, their parents have some connection to FIFA/UEFA). It's not a tennis thing.

What? Maybe in Spain. In Netherlands and France definitely not.

Spain, UK, Italy, Germany, many footballers who have connected parents and/or rich parents, but ya France is from all socio-economic levels.

Have to reiterate Netherlands. Looking at Dutch National team I'd say handful are from lower-class households, majority from middle. Not sure which one are from rich/influential families.

How many big name Spanish players in the last 10-20 years were rich as kids? Probably only Pique.

If you had to pick 1 who has better mentality:

Rafa or Nole?

If it's a point for my life, I'd choose Djokovic.

But overall, I think Rafa...he's had insane accomplishments given both his foot condition AND injuries AND having to deal with both prime Federer and prime Djokovic.

Djokovic dealt with prime Federer as well but for less years (07 onwards). While Rafa battled him numerous times across 05 and 06 (arguably Fed's absolute peak).

To have 22 GS and 37 M 1000s dealing with the full primes of the other two GOATs sets him apart IMO.

Why are you jealous? I am sure you can get a game going if you played before. I am thinking of joining a club to play recreationally. So far just been going around Amsterdam looking for public courts.

Just that you get to it, I miss regular tennis. Sure I could get a game going. Besides, I dropped running this summer and not in my best form. I should join a club.

Have you tried out Padel? Less physical effort, more accessible for everyone.

No, I haven't. Didn't think it was a thing here but now I see there are 3 clubs near by. Seems like a good exercise.

You're trained at Tennis too? That's so cool.

I'm trained too.

Got a huge serve and forehand. Single handed Backhand and love playing them drop shots with backspin.

That's nice! Yeah, I'd been training for years and did well when I was younger but I never pushed it.
