Blueduck, why do you seem in a mission to always argue with people from Scotland?

 Hamzah was the one who said that violence determines how big a derby is.

Scotland have just as many hooligans. (if not more)

Remember when Celtic played City and a Celtic fan threw a BRICK at a 5 year old city fan ?

you sure you didn't?

I'm not, but if they can't admit that Arsenal, Liverpool and United have waaay more fans worldwide then they need to be corrected.

Why do you care anyway ?

I'm pretty sure they never said that Arsenal, Liverpool and United have less fans than Celtic and Rangers. They are only saying that both clubs do have a worldwide reputation. You just seem to be desperate to look down on everything from their country which is what I don't understand.

O rly?

The fact is that Arsenal, Liverpool & United have (at least) 10 times the fanbase Celtic or Rangers.

r u mad m8 or hav you just never been abroad before?

its very easy to find an irish pub anywhere in america that would far rather show a hamilton v celtic game than man utd v chelsea. so, you wrong

I still don't see why you have to get try and get involved.

This is a forum for discussion Blueducky-boi. Anyway only "r u mad m8 or hav you just never been abroad before?" quote seems to imply that they have more fans than Arsenal, Liverpool and United but honestly I doubt he thinks that, I would believe it if he comes and posts that Celtic & Rangers have more fans worldwide than Arsenal, Liverpool and United with the exact words or similar to that and if he does then he's on the same delusional level of Mancs4life.

Well valon-boi, we can only assume that what he wrote is what he believes. Which wouldn't surprise me.

I think the best way to have anything good of this derby it turn it to a boxing match .. Celtic Captain vs Rangers Captain .. cause the two teams are far from playing football ..
plus it will have all the ingredients of blood & passion
maybe consider a 3 vs 3
It even suit the name more "Old firm "
anyhow as always i'll be cheering the Celts

No, countries like USA, Canada, Australia also care. Go on name me a bigger derby. And only derbies that are in the same city, so no Madrid-Barca. At least admit it is the biggest British derby.
Those who care are the Irish & Scottish immigrants ONLY

it's not the same and the level of football is a joke
Not true. No offence Super Pippo you're a likeable guy and you know your football but trust me, myself, Hamzah, henriklarsson 7, we live in, more or less, this city. We know what it's really about. Those derbies are good derbies no doubt but they don't have the importance, poltics, religion, violence, baggage, support that the Old Firm has.
Pippo lived in Scotland for a quite some time Viva
mancs4life is delusional alright
i can agree with that

Thanks Beast, yes VivaBarca its true, I actually lived in your country, I'm quite familiar with these games.

I have no doubt its importance in the West of Scotland, but where I lived in the East, it was really not such a big deal, I think because the people there don't have any ties with North Ireland where its rivalry and tension is from. There it was just seen as a mini league that would decide the champion, most people had a leaning for one, but my friends for sure would prefer to watch EPL over this game. And the people in the North and Islands don't even care much for football at all.

And like I say, its played too much to be really interesting, in a domestic season in Scotland its common for them to meet each other 6 times. Familiarity breeds contempt.

West and East? You've got your geography all mixed up by the sounds of it. For sure the Old Firm derby is one of the biggest in football, but you are absolutely right that it is diluted somewhat by the amount of times they play each other and the fact that the Scottish league is very poor but contrary to what Beast says, they do play good football in Scotland. They might not be the most gifted players in the world but they do try and play the game the right way.
