You should have signed with Barca, fool.

Barca should have kept Thiago Alcantara, fools.

You guys should learn to let it go and accept players do their own choices like any humans instead of sounding bitter and rehashing the past again and again.

Not really concerned about Thiago at all. We have an excellent squad capable of winning every title.

Thiago Silva however should have made Barca his choice over PSG, who will not come close to a CL title. Bad mistake on his part.

Exactly. It's a shame that such a talented player like him is wasting his time playing in a secondary league such as Ligue 1. Money talks though and he obviously preferred the money. You can't have it all.

How is it his fault that Barca never wanted to buy him when he was at Milan? Only PSG bid for him and he was even forced to leave by his club.

Btw, yesterday's match showed why he's the best. Once again.

It's a bit different when someone comes from a poor family and experienced poverty for most of their lives. That's pretty much why most African and South American players take money instead of thinking about the best move (not that staying at Paris is the worst thing ever).

And tbh, why does he have to take a (massive?) wage cut to go to Barca? It's not as if PSG wanted to sell him anyway.

He is way too injury prone anyway. € 40M+ transfer fee which it would have required to get him and the massive wages would have been a waste. More than half the time Barca came up against Milan/PSG in recent years he's spend the time on the stands.

PSG is three years into their project and already one of the largest clubs in Europe. Their trajectory is unprecedented to this point, so how would you know whether or not they'll ever get close to a final? Poorer squads have certainly done so, and the only true problem Paris had this UCL was poor luck with the draw, injuries, and suspensions. Being beaten by Barca given the shape of PSG's squad is nothing to be ashamed over.

A secondary league like Ligue 1, who sent two teams to the semi's, who produces more talent than any other big 5 league, whose 3rd place team ousted Arsenal and is outplaying Juventus. A secondary league indeed.

"One of the largest" based on what exactly? Oil money/revenue alone. Neither when it comes to fan-base, titles, history, prestige, squad, manager and actual performances etc.

Of course Ligue 1 is a secondary league compared to the 4 big leagues. You are fooling nobody.

Based on the fact that they've won two consecutive league titles, are working on a third, and have managed three UCL quarter finals appearances in that same time. How many clubs have accomplished similar? Few. Hence, "one of the largest".

Ligue 1 has more quality than Serie A and is comparable to the EPL and Bundesliga. It produces and plays more home grown talent while manufacturing more prospects for foreign clubs than any of the three. This season Ligue 1 featured more clubs in the quarters of the UCL(2) than Serie A(1), Bundesliga(1), and the EPL(0).

Perhaps Ligue 1 was poor in the past, but that's no longer that case.

Comparing leagues is pretty pointless anyway, only the top clubs compete against each other in european competition.
It would actually be nice to have a one off european championship with two or three divisions, but i doubt there will ever be anything of the sort

As I wrote already and as every knowledgeable football fan knows then PSG are far from being a leading club in any category other than oil money and revenue. PSG is a small club in terms of history, trophies won and prestige. Their fan-base outside of France is also small. The Qatari oil money has enabled them to become relevant in France and somewhat in Europe (so far without any success) but that does not make them "one of the largest clubs".

No, Ligue 1 has not more quality than Serie A nor is it a better league. According to the UEFA coefficient list then Ligue 1 is merely the 6th best league in Europe.

Comparable to EPL and Bundesliga? Nice joke.

Yes and this season the Portuguese league had 1 team in the quarter-finals while England had zero. Based on your logic this makes the Portuguese league better than the EPL.

Look at UEFA's coefficient list if you want to get the full picture.

Ligue 1 is not a secondary league compared to the Dutch, Belgian, Ukrainian, Russian etc. but it's nowhere near the level of the big 4. Historically all the best players and clubs used to be/are still based in those 4 major European leagues.

Anyway the point that was made is obviously that it's a shame that Thiago Silva is wasting his career in an inferior league when players like him should be testing themselves in the best of leagues every weekend and be fighting for the CL.
