I can also answer your question why his contract got extended. Because the club won't lose him for free and can cash in bigger money. You could have answered this yourself.

Bullshit. 16/17 he was probably the best Bayern player all around and you think the only reason to extend his contract was making more money? Now you're just pulling stuff out of your ass because you don't like him.

Not direct comparisons, right, but it's become clear that he's not going to start a singe match for Spain this World Cup. World class players tend to start for their NT.

Bayern have also benched him for big matches on numerous occasions and other times he's been injured.

Were you not claiming Wilshere would be a good replacement for Iniesta?!

Jack Wilshere who cant get in England squad or regular game for Arsenal.

At least Thiago has some very good players to compete with.

Yip it is and the likes of Suarez are rated as second best player for Barca on it.

Yeah for example goals are too important there imo, during the France match Pogba jumped from almost worst player to 2nd best the moment he scored so it's often hard to say how good a player was overall especially of he scored or made a crucial mistake (like Umtiti in that game).

That being said it's still not easy to get these high ratings especially on positions other than striker (because of the goals), everybody can see the individual stats and Thiago was just that good at passing and defending and i don't think anyone who watched him can deny that.

I get that stats can be misconstrued, but in regards to Thiago in 16/17, he was solid for Bayern and rather than discussing whether or not the stats are 'justified' we need to come to terms with the fact that he would add a lot of value and quality to our team; we were screaming for a quality CM last summer and know with Iniesta leaving, we are in even more need of a controlling midfielder. Thiago knows the club, the players, the style of play and is available for 70 mil euros.

Would you rate any other player better fit for our midfield issues? Eriksen is basically unattainable since we suck ass at negotiating and Levy would leave us dizzy, ***** and bankrupt. Pjanic is top slow and not much better/different than Rakitic for 80 mil. They made a poll on MD and 70 % would not have us buy Pjanic over Thiago.

Thiago has been good for them but whoscored is not any proof for players really.

Makes you think why seem happy enough to let him go.

If you read posts on different Bayern supporter sites, they are fuming about the decision - the technical staff at Bayern apparently rate Goretzka, James, Tolisso as sufficient/better than Thiago. Thiago has clearly had a drop in form, but a fresh start at Barca could bring out the best in him.

Every Bayern fan I know IRL are stating that this is Kroos all over again. Let's hope so.

Well not only our board makes mistakes. They seem to take a new "old" back-to-the-roots direction that's at least highly debatable imo. They hired Kovac (played terrible looking defensiv football with Frankfurt), Hoeneß said they don't need star players and Kovac will just make their players play better, they renewed with old Robben and Ribery, they sign a shitload of box-to-box midfielders they dont need (who remembers Sanches?) etc so i think it's up to debate of they are really that perfect that them letting Thiago go automatically means he's not good enough what is often used as an argument.

And even if Bayern doesn't need him, that doesn't mean he wouldn't help us.

In the biggest German forum they go crazy over it and it's like 80% who want to keep him with like an extra 10% that make it look like it's the worst decision a football club ever made

Do you have a few words on this?
Is Matthaus an idiot?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5762981/Lothar-Matthaus-slams-Thiago-Alcantara-says-Bundesliga-champions-sell.html

Bayern Munchen legend Lothar Matthaus tore into the club's current central midfielder Thiago Alcantara and suggested the Bundesliga champions should consider selling him.
The 27-year-old Spanish international signed for the Bavarian side in 2013 as part of the Pep Guardiola revolution but in Matthaus's opinion, Thiago has flattered to deceive in big games.
He has come into heavy criticism in Germany following his role in the club's Champions League exit to Real Madrid and the German Cup final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt
'Thiago hasn't made the difference in the big games,' Matthaus told Sport Bild. 'I actually rate him but he's been a shadow of his former self recently.
'Thiago has disappointed me in the past few weeks. I don't know where his head is. With these performances, he's not a player for Bayern Munich.'
With Thomas Muller, James Rodriguez, Corentin Tolisso, Sebastian Rudy, Arturo Vidal and new signing Leon Goretzka all providing stern competition for places in central midfield, Matthaus intimated that the club should be open to offers to sell the former Barcelona ace.
'If a suitable offer is on the table, then Bayern should think about it,' he added.
Since joining the club, Thiago has won five Bundesliga titles and two German Cups but it is his offerings in the Champions League - for which he has never helped navigate Bayern past the semi-finals - that have come under severe scrutiny.
Once a primary target for Manchester United, the Spanish midfielder is unlikely to be short of attention and offers with a reunion with Guardiola at Manchester City one possibility.

Ulli Hoeness, president:
The arrival of Niko Kovac means that some players may be best advised to move along to another club, with the incoming trainer looking to start fresh rather than having to rebuild in the middle of his term.
The new Bayern boss may well aim to make a few changes ahead of his first term as Bayern boss.
It will come as controversial given that Thiago Alcantara is considered one of the most creative midfielders in the world, but the Spaniard is one player that almost always fails to deliver in big matches.
When Bayern appointed Niko Kovac as the man to succeed the legendary Jupp Heynckes, German press was quick to say that one of the Bayern stars who could leave in the summer is Thiago Alcantara.
And German magazine Kicker again claim that Thiago could leave in the summer as a result of that fact that even president Uli Hoeness has no faith in his qualities anymore.

So, to some extent: Bayern, who is supposed to be weaker than us is getting rid of this guy since he is not good enough in big matches.
But yet, we, who should be better than Bayern, would like to have him as a key player who will help us in a CL campaign.

Something is "broken" in this logic guys.
Either Bayern (and Barca 5 years ago, and Pep, and Spanish NT coaches) are crazy.
Or Barcaforum is too emotional about him and we are overrating him a lot.
