Thiago Translantara

The fact that Manchester United is willing to put Thiago on wages comparable to Xavi and Iniesta shows how desperate they really are for a midfielder.

Thiago never struck me as the type of the guy who would shy away from competition. I know Cesc is a beast of a midfielder but I would love to see him stay and fight for his position. Xavi has a couple of years left and that's it, Thiago is more suited to take over that spot then Cesc is. I still think Cesc is a superior player in terms of technical skill but I feel like Thiago can be the future leader of the Blaugrana. I'm still holding out hope that he doesn't retreat.

I'm sure it's going to be hard to say no to that kind of money though.

Is that even true though? us putting him on wages comparable to Xavi and Iniesta i mean? the only place i read that was in barcelona newspapers Mundo and sport, maybe they did that to make it more a "look hes leaving for money" thing to ease the backlash on the club?

United dont pay huge wages to players of 22 usually, ive no idea what were offering Thiago but our wage structure is usually very age based, by that i mean a player of 22 even if very good usually gets paid mid range rather than say Rooney or Van Persie money, for the sole reason when it comes to renewal of that contract they can then go up to the top tier wage, i doubt wed give him that much straight away but who knows.

But Thiagos a youth product of Barcelona, wanting to leave to get more minutes is one thing, going to the arch enemy is surely out of bounds? plus where does his game time come from? Madrid spunked 30 million on Modric last summer, they giving up on him already? Alonso? Khedira? apparently Isco is all but signed, then theres Ozil, Ronaldo etc

Wouldnt he be in exactly the same situation he finds himself in at Barca?

Yeah, it's unlikely he'd go to Madrid but in principle there is a possibility. Madrid just need to pay the buy-out clause and that's it. It's out of Barcelona's hands.

He should go if he want. It only proves that he is not good enough for us. He stand no chance against a old xavi and against iniesta and busquets he has no chance too. So if he is so scary to take the challenge than he has nothing to do here. Search for a good replacement a player who can really take xavis place and not maybe...

I read it in Spanish newspapers and the British tabloid papers like The Mirror and Daily Mail. If it's true or not remains to be seen but I have a feeling it's true when AS is reporting that the deal Manchester United is offering is "irresistible"... that leads me to believe the deal is huge and that his wages will at least triple per week.

I see, isnt AS a Madrid based paper though? in fact im 99% sure thats Guillem Ballagues paper! Mr downpayment on Falcao Ballague!

Not that fussed about him going if he wants to as he is not one of the best midfielders in the squad.

More annoying the price he is going for really.

Sell him, improve the team and move on.

A Man Utd midfield with Thiago in it will still get owned by Messi, Neymar, Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets.

It will still be much better than ours yes, your team is a lot better than ours no arguments there, still think a team with Carrick/Thiago/Kagawa/Rooney/Van Persie would be competitive though.

IF our midfield gets our mojo back.

They will be but it depends on them not having to cover for two fcking kamikaze full backs or getting forward to help Messi as the wingers are not up to it./

If they can just get back to dominating the middle of the park an concentrating on their own jobs things will go back to normal.

isn't Rooney leaving??Kagawa is overrated, Van Persie was out of touch in the last 10 matches of the season and i think he will continue his bad form in next season too, Carrick was impressive though..i think Man utd winning next season looks very unlikely even if Thiago joins them.....

Rooney wont leave, too much of an icon, at least we wont be selling him voluntarily. Kagawa was shunted out of position and then injured when he was settling, he has not had a chance to be rated.

A player that fits us like a glove would make the champion winning team at a canter, and the season before that on GD, less likely to win? Midfield is our only weakness bar an aging defence.
