Thiago Translantara

Mazinho said something in the lines that bringing Cesc would hinder thiago's development. Pep convince him to stay, made clear he was counting on him. Now, Tito doesn't seem very convinced about Thiago.

I see, the cynic in me says it sounds a little like Mazinhio has been waiting to be proven right and is possibly the biggest reason behind this potential move maybe even more than Thiago himself?

As for Vilanova, to be fair what can he say? he cant lie to Thiago can he? if hes honest all he can say is "when everyone's fit your not in the team" which is the harsh reality, especially for the big games both in the league and champions league, but i maybe can rotate you more in the lesser games? isnt that really all he can say without blatantly lying, he can hardly say im counting on you your crucial to the team when the simple fact is right now he isnt, hes a bench option, someone you see as a long term player, not a short term one, which is the problem.

Its your own clubs fault for having the most ridiculous midfield on the planet!! we'd kill for 1 of those 4!!!

Well i dont think theres any doubt your board wants to keep him is there? that seems to be the only thing stopping the move, the boards desperately trying to do just that.

The board doesn't have much to say in this tbh. If Thiago really wants more playing time then it's up to the coach to decide about that. The president can do nothing about it (except sack the coach and hire someone who promises to make Thiago the first name on the team sheet - which won't happen of course). And from what I've heard Tito isn't too fussed about this whole situation. He says he has been honest to the player and can't promise him anything except that Thiago needs to be patient and his time is yet to come. Which is understandable. Barca can't promise a kid playing time ahead of Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas just for the sake of it. He has to earn those minutes, not ask for it.

Yes, and that comes back to my point about what offering him a new contract actually achieves other than the obvious salary improvement, it dosnt get him the game time that is the root of the problem, and as you say everything weve heard about Vilanova on this is what youve said, cant guarantee him any more games, is currently behind the other 3 needs to be patient etc, maybe Thiago would argue he was told this 2 years ago, he has been patient and yet finds himself even further away from game time since the club went all out to get Fabregas? a move i still really dont understand especially given Fabregas isnt even a regular either.

I just dont see what Rosell and co can do, as you say its the coach who picks the team, the board cant guarantee him games when they dont run the team, which is why i think its more about trying to turn the negative onto the player, try and drag it out to show the fans its the players desire to leave and not the clubs failure to keep him, make him out to be the bad guy.

Apparently Florentino Perez when asked about Thiago has said:

"Thiagos a question for our new manager Ancelotti"

Didnt he previously say Madrid wouldnt be activating the release clause? then again i suppose you can never trust that man, wonder what Modric,Alonso,Khedira etc make of that to especially Modric.

Surely Barcelona would prefer to sell him to United over Madrid?? not only losing a youth product but to lose him to Madrid would surely be totally out of the question? would Thiago even go there??

There's no chance that he'll go to Real Madrid, i would rather sell him to United.

Actually there is a chance he could go to Madrid, albeit a slim one. But his father has flirted with them in the past, that's well-known.

Thats exactly what id have thought, it would be like us losing an in prime Paul Scholes to Man City! cant for the life of me see your board even contemplating allowing that to happen especially with other serious interest.

But Thiagos a youth product of Barcelona, wanting to leave to get more minutes is one thing, going to the arch enemy is surely out of bounds? plus where does his game time come from? Madrid spunked 30 million on Modric last summer, they giving up on him already? Alonso? Khedira? apparently Isco is all but signed, then theres Ozil, Ronaldo etc

Wouldnt he be in exactly the same situation he finds himself in at Barca?

The awkward thing for me is no one of parties officially have something to say about this rumor. Come on, I wish Barca say something like "ManU contact us, but we won't lost the player because bla bla bla, but that all we can do, decision is on the player", ManU "We have interest, let's see if we can make a deal", Thiago "bla bla bla". Also isn't Thiago said he will talk about his future in public after u21 ended? Or it was just my imagination? well, maybe he will talk 3-4 weeks from now is still right (after u21 ended too) :rofl1:.

And once more, wherever I see news it's always "Thiago's father Mazinho and his agent" mentioned, I mean the father and agent mentioned together, I read somewhere his father also his agent, then somewhere his father isn't his agent but Pere Guardiola is. But saw the words father and agent always alltogether, I think his father also his agent, or his father and his agent is some kind like soulmate that always together. :rofl1:

The fact that Manchester United is willing to put Thiago on wages comparable to Xavi and Iniesta shows how desperate they really are for a midfielder.

Thiago never struck me as the type of the guy who would shy away from competition. I know Cesc is a beast of a midfielder but I would love to see him stay and fight for his position. Xavi has a couple of years left and that's it, Thiago is more suited to take over that spot then Cesc is. I still think Cesc is a superior player in terms of technical skill but I feel like Thiago can be the future leader of the Blaugrana. I'm still holding out hope that he doesn't retreat.

I'm sure it's going to be hard to say no to that kind of money though.
