Thibaut Courtois

Mourinho says he expects Courtois to stay at Chelsea next season and compete with Cech. I don't see why he should only stay if he's guaranteed to start, it's not a World Cup year, he shouldn't be afraid of a little competition.

Cech is on the way down, we don't need someone who is looking for a last payday.

Cech is still young for a goalkeeper, he's into his prime. I think a change of club could do him well. He speaks about five different languages and I'm surprised Barcelona were never linked to him as Valdes replacement.

Face it, someone will be sitting on the Chelsea bench next season, Cech could be a right bargain for some club

Courtois has said a lot of times already that he isn't going to Chelsea if he isn't going to be the first keeper. And rightly so.

What a pussy, really, if he's going to be such a little princess and all scared of a little competition then he can piss off, tbh, but I'd rather sell him to Atletico than Real or Barca. He can displace Cech, everybody knows this, if he actually has confidence in his ability to be the best he'd compete for the no.1 spot.

Competition between goalkeepers is completely different than any other position on the pitch. It's not like you get regular chances to impress by getting subbed on in the second half of matches. As long as Cech doesn't make a series of errors then he'll remain the number one keeper in the league and the Champions League. Courtois knows that unless Cech drops his form than he his going there to be a keeper for the Fa Cup and Capital One Cup for at least a season. He would be the undisputed no 1 goalkeeper at almost every other team in world football. Why would he choose to be a back-up when he could be a regular in the Champions League and domestic league?

That's the thing, Cech makes enough errors to have Courtois be given chances. Cech isn't infallible at all, despite some of the awesome form he can show he has more than his fare share of uncertain moments and mistakes. I have no doubt Courtois would be able to displace him.

But hey in the end if he wants to go then he'll go, obviously, either for huge money or a swap deal for Diego Costa.

I feel he owes us a little bit though, we could have kept him as a backup but we let him go to a good club and he's gained a huge reputation for it, if he doesn't want to stay after a half season then go, at least try to take the no.1 spot though.

I agree that Cech does make errors ever since his injury. The thing is he doesn't really commit them that regularly and he still produces big performances. Like you wouldn't see Cech go on the sort of run of form that Joe Hart went on. Courtois definitely has the ability to displace him and he knows he would in the long run but I think he has doubts about how long that would take.
Lets be honest as well, if Mourinho really is telling him to sign a contract or rot on the bench then Courtois probably isn't feeling a great deal of affection for Jose or Chelsea at the moment.

EDIT: Chelsea are hardly doing him that big a favour. It's in their own interest to have him out on loan, just like the other 25 players or whatever it is they have on loan.

From what I read I don't think the whole sign or rot reports were true. From memory I couldn't find anything concrete about that, I could be wrong though. It'd be smarter to just sell him for a large wad of cash or in a good swap deal, which I think Mourinho would rather do than to waste him, especially since he's trying to raise money for purchases due to the FFP.

Well yeah I didn't say it was a huge favour, just said owe us a bit, enough to stay and compete for 6 months I'd say, give it a chance at least, and if he can't get any games then he can leave mid season. The only issue is that he'd be cup tied for the CL, but I don't think that'd deter most clubs. That said, if we don't guarantee him starts and Barca come knocking due to Valdes leaving, I see him going there.

I don't think Barca is a possibility. For some reason we don't seem to be interested in him, maybe because they think it would be too tough buying from Mourinho. Ter Stegen seems to be pretty much a done deal.

It's seems to be either Atletico or Chelsea for Courtois. I'm sure other big clubs will come in with offers but at the moment it seems to be one of those. If Atletico have enough money for him than I hope Chelsea let him go.

If it was possible everyone would come in for him including PSG and Man City, maybe even Madrid. Of course Atletico

What's all this about Courtois being afraid of competing against Cech? He's been quoted as saying:

“I’m not afraid to compete against someone, but I don’t really want to go to a team and not play. I want to play and if not at Chelsea, it will have to be at another team.”

He doesn't mind it, he just wants his chances. He'll accept fair competition at the beginning of the season and then probably surpass Cech to be #1
