Henry has just been bloody awful in MLS, he has been outshone by juan pablo angel

Jeez guys he's played a total of like 3 league games in a league that's been ongoing for months. He's had a few assists, is still not fully fit and is having trouble with a nagging muscle problem. He's missed a few sitters but its certainly no cause to tell him to hang up the boots...

The pace and level of skill in MLS may be far below the European leagues but because the physicality is much higher, its not an easy league to just pop into midseason. Both Henry and Marquez have said that it is the most physical league they've played in, including the EPL.

MLS is far, far, far from a top league but it's definitely physical. I was worried about how Marquez was going to handle it but so far he's been able to.

Henry on the other hand..I wouldn't say he's been awful, like you said he's had a few assists but he definitely looks like an old man. He deserves a shot before he's written off completely because his success will be good for the league but he's a player who relied so much on his pace I wouldn't call him elite anymore and in the end I expect him to be useful for the Red Bulls.

I say this as a Rafa homer but Marquez is more important to Red Bulls because they haven't had an elite (by MLS standards) midfielder since Guevara.

Marquez will have a bigger impact in the end because the Red Bulls midfield had next to zero creativity before he showed up, but Henry can and has still beat MLS defenders. For the most part whenever Henry has turned and faced the defender he has beaten them, they are not used to players who can move laterally like him and have trouble with his quick feints.

The thing that worries me is that I think three years playing on the wing has killed his strikers instinct. He's back in a position where he should be turning to goal and shooting whenever possible, but you can tell he still looks to pass first 99% of the time. Even last year with Barca he proved he can still hit the ball well, I don't understand why he hasn't been doing it more for NY...
