Luiz would be very good for us actually.

I agree. Luiz is technically perfect for the Barca system. Mentally, he has displayed great qualities at Chelsea and for Brazil recently. He offers very good qualities on set pieces (long FK, long throw, aerial target).

Tactically, he must improve in certain areas, but I believe the Barca system would play to his strengths very well.

If Chelsea will do a deal under 30 (25-30), I'd jump all over it.

Luiz is to error prone, kinda like Mascherano. He also tends to go up way to far with the ball in the field, trying to dribble people and leaving the defence vulnrable for counters.

Agree, hes unstable goes forward many times without caring of the gaps that he leaves behind him and as you say prone to make even easy mistakes

With all the love I have for Luiz and his craziness on and off the pitch, What Barcelona need is a clean badass defender with minimum brain farts and lack of concentration which is the problem with Luiz. Chelsea's player might a be a good deal IF Barca didn't have 2 ultra offensive full backs in the starting line-up.

He has everything to be the best CB in the world if he calms down.

Agree he is too much like the Pique/Masc CB in trying to win ball early and stepping out of defence with ball, but I would take him this summer as he is a better pure CB than either of those two.

I'd prefer Thiago Silva or Marquinhos.

If not them, then Inigo Martinez. We will have to overpay to get Martinez though just like Real Madrid did to get Illarramendi .He's good and linked up well with Barta @ the U21 Euros. His buyout clause is the same as Illarramendi, so it would nearly cost the club 39M to sign him though after VAT and income taxes.

Marquinhos might be the best option. He's just as good as Varane, just not through the air.

What about Koscielny? Good in the air and also stays back and doesn't rush forward like Pique does sometimes. The best thing about him, though, is the fact that he's one of the fastest CB's in the BPL, and a CB with pace is exactly what we need.

I meant that he leaves the defence pretty much many times and goes to attack.

Marquinhos is bound for PSG, and Thiago Silva will stay.
39M for Inigo would be absolute madness when we have Bartra in the squad. Hell, even without Bartra it would still be a crime to pay nearly 40M(I mean, seriously?!) for him.

Iñigo Martinez is kinda overrated on this forum... Bartra is on par with him talent-wise just lacks first team experience and playing time...

Inigo Martinez appeared to be better watching them both play @ the U21 Euros.

I watched Inigo play all year and he's defensively sound, he's well aware of the game. He's decent through the air too.

I would prefer Marquinhos. Just because PSG is leading the race for him doesn't mean the race is over yet.
