No need to completely rely on academy players, especially in positions where we need signings. We shouldn't be like RM (99% signings), but good signings can't hurt. Though we should mainly use academy players, there's no need to rely solely on academy players and not make any signings whatsoever.
We'll definitely need a few signings for our starting lineup next season. Namely a new GK and a new CB. We might want to go for a new forward as well, especially if Villa is leaving.
Btw, all the bolded signings were successful and/or worth the cash. Our signings have been a bit of a hit-or-miss, but it's not like we haven't made any successful signings. Song remains to be seen. He's been a pretty good backup for Busqeuts so far though.

Lloris is a decent GK but not a great one, he is especially weak in the air, also he would be expensive to buy, there are a lot of GK in the same level and they would be much cheaper, for me the best french GK now is Ruffier, press links him to Bilbao coz he is basque,but I would like to have him in Barça.

All the Bold names were needed or we had a need in their positions ,some didn't succeed ,like Chygrynskiy,Sanchez,Hleb ,but we needed a good player in their positions ,may be Fabregas wasn't a player we needed but he is good
Also we needed some players that we didn't get at that time ,like a new CB ,or a new true 9 from the bench ( though a lot might disagree with the last one )
Also since Rosell toke over ,we had signed only Song,Cesc,Afellay,Alba,Mascherano&Sanchez .I think we needed some different players than those
tbh ,I don't have much trust in Zubizarreta ,hopefully he will prove me wrong next summer

Alves, Pique, Villa were deadly needed as history proved to us, and imo alba is at the same boat too. It is evident so far and it will be also as years go by..
On a second category (subs but usefull), it is Keita, Mascherano, Adriano, fabregas and sanchez..
All the other were pretty much useless imo

I read a comment on Barcastuff earlier today that Barca have put in a written offer to Roma for Marquinhos, 18yr old centreback.Says they have offered 25m (presumably euros) but Roma don't plan to sell.

Yeah, 25m seems a bit excessive for an 18 year old. He'd be a good buy if we could get him cheap though (about 10-15m). Not as the starting CB (yet), but to add depth.
