Transfers and Rumours - old thread

Improvin' Perfection!!
The owner lost a lot of money after he broke off a deal for potash in Belarus. His company lost $8.5 billion in the market.

As happy as I am that an oil-money owner is stepping away from the football world, $8.5 billion is too huge an amount. I hope he gets back to being normal

Sakho is talented... If we could somehow give him some peception it would be an extra ordinary deal, but come to think of it guys, even Ancelotti couldn't deal with him. he's just a lost cause!!

I could understand that Tata isn't convinced by Luiz and Agger, but does Barcelona realize there's other leagues than the Premier League? We have bought Abidal and Márquez from the French league and the Bundesliga has also produced great defenders. If Hummels is too similar too Piqué, why not try for the guy that complements him so much? Dortmund would never let Subotic leave this close to the end of the transfermarket though.

This epl only bullshit is rather annoying. so irrational from sporting perspective. Only thing I can think of they want player known in big market to expand their brand further.

Don't mean to scare anyone but this what we MIGHT be facing next season:

C.Ronaldo - Benzema - Bale

Without a "Tall, young and agile" CB, we are going to get owned big time!

Is Levy really going to sell? I mean at this point it just seems like stupid, empty words from both sides when it's glaringly obvious how unreasonable the terms are and how little needed of a transfer it is. I think even Ancelotti said that Bale isn't a priority for him, which wouldn't matter to Perez but would make it clear to Bale that he isn't really wanted there. The Bale rumors just seem to be getting more and more plastic as the days go on, I'm doubting whether anything materializes.

Even if it does, I'd actually rather have Bale than Di Maria on that right flank. Bale can shoot from long distance, but he's a speed monkey and not great technically. Di Maria, on the other hand, is a FAR trickier player and those kinds are much harder to handle, especially for fragile defenses.

As for other players, it's quite obvious Real Madrid have coherence and a great squad this year. We have to match it with insane motivation and tactical fluidity. Alba and Alves will have to stay pinned to the wingers and put their defensive duties first, otherwise we leave open too much space for their attackers to exploit and create scoring chances with ease.

Di Maria against Alba would be considered a fair match up. But Bale against Alba? . . Well you all saw what Ivan Drago did to Apollo Creed right?

Its obvious bale isn't the trickiest player in the world but what he lack in tricks, he makes up for in speed, enthusiasm and a wicked left foot strike! BTW, the talk of him not being technical. . . . Are you serious, or was it one of those self denial moments we all have?

By not technical I meant not very agile or quick footed ala Di Maria, Neymar, Iniesta, etc. Di Maria (when on form) would make a mockery of any defender of ours, his movement and trickery makes him almost impossible to mark. Bale is being overrated in this scenario, he uses speed and power. It makes him a great asset if they are lacking in that area (which they aren't), but he's not that hard to mark comparatively and doesn't have a notably great footballing brain or skill.
