also I don't think we are winning CL next season unless messi comes out swinging hard like he did in 14/15 , putting in 100% effort, determination, and discipline. who we bring in is sort of irrelevant as an off rhythm messi just damages our play so much.

it was not undeserved by no means .. at most they wre Lucky with the draw

You could say it's underserved because the match ended 1-1 and the goal they scored shouldn't have counted. You don't deserve to have your illegal goal counted on the score board. But it doesn't matter now.

Anyway, to wrap this up, several conclusions from me based on the season.

1. Atletico didn't bottle anything. It was a close game which we expected, if anything, I didn't expect them to dominate the game. They got lucky on Camp Nou and Allianz, losing only by 1 goal while being completely dominated. They got unlucky tonight (maybe the nerves played a part too).
2. Real Madrid winning it clearly proves once again that this competition depends on a lot of factors you can't control. Sometimes a team emerges as the best in the competition and these factors don't matter as much (they still exist though - see Barca Chelsea in 2009, when we needed luck even though we were the best in the world). Sometimes there is no team that is above the others in a clear way, and that is when these factors grow in importance (draws, decisions, stuff like that).
3. Both our season and Madrid's season have been very good, ours in consistency and overall level of play, theirs in the ability to turn it around when in a tough spot in the season. I thought they were going to end with 0 titles again.
4. Ronaldo has had an average to poor season. Messi has had a good season. Suarez has had a great season. He should win the Ballon d'Or.
5. Everybody on this planet who is a football fan should aknowledge Bale is a world class player. There isn't that much difference between him and Neymar - with Neymar being better by some margin, but not by as much as we thought initially. Bale is without a doubt Real's best player atm.
5. We missed a big chance of making history this year. But, hey, 5 big trophies out of 6 in two years is amazing as well.

Looking forward to next season. We have some trophies to defend, and others to reclaim. Hopefully some reinforcements.

That's what we all said this season. For so long we said it. How this weak and pathetic RM side won't ever reach the final. But they did, and they won it. Took away from our season and made us feel miserable.

it's football Buddy .. it's not an exact science. the soon anyone accept this the less he's miserable , fucking greece won Euros ffs

We could've won it again today if it wasn't for the fact we were totally napping this April after a stupid national team break, still, a deserved penalty on Calderon and with no extra luck needed we would've probably made it further.

How would've a Roma-Wolfsburg-City route look like to us? Omg easiest ever, compared to the one last year, hardest ever by all standards.

Offside goal, penalty miss by Atletico's MoS, lazy defending and some lack of class shots directly in Oblak, Pepe a clown again, Christina=0.

Really, mandrill can't win this one without so much luck, it's mathematically almost impossible to come 2 consecutive seasons!

serghei that's exactly what i'm saying, take almost any champion and with some scrutiny you gonna find a call made in his favor that doesn't make their win undeserved , Ramos 's goal was a close call (took several replays to see ) .. the game like you've said was even so how their trophy is undeserved.
Agree with the points ; although Bale didn't hit his current form until the last 2 mouths .. i'm still skeptical about a lot of aspects of his game especially the passing, but his impact is undeniable

I left before penalties and Atletico were time wasting instead of going for the winner. I knew what was about to happen.

Whatever. We'll be back next year.

This Real madrid wasn't even the best in their group now they're the best in Europe? What a joke.

I knew Oblak was shit at penalties. I just didn't expect him to not even trying. Even when you're cluless at least try to guess. Try to impose your presence in the goal so it makes the penalty taker much more nervous when he's taking the shot.

I blame Simeone for the way things went on. He had to sub Correa on for Torres earlier, who was just walking around on the pitch for the last 40,50 minutes of the game. I am disappointed at Simeone for taking such an approach, when had the subs to make the difference before the match goes to the penalties. He probably mistaken Oblak with Carlos Roa, or Dida. Ridiculous

Not saying he did, but afterall, Juanfran was the only one who missed his penalty, and Navas didnt even make the save.

Isn't that a different isssue altogether? Thing was navas was actually trying. Oblak wasn't doing shit. Had he tried who knows what would have happened.

That's a fucking joke for me bc he's been so goddamn ordinary this season. This is by far their weakest team since he has joined Madrid. At least during La Decima they actually showed some class in destroying Bayern at home. Again, a fucking pathetic 120 mins and an own goal gets them into this final...

Sure, but that is how BD works these days. Between Messi and Ronaldo, regardless of their actual performance, the one with the CL title wins automatically. And if both of them did not win the CL then it is down to La Liga, CdR and other titles.

Yeah, that is why I said BD is a joke these days.

A campaign like this happens once every 20 years for a team. Basically, lucky getting 1st place in the CL group + lucky draws all around + going from 0-2 to 3-2 with Wolfsburg + easiest semifinal opponent in ages + offside goal in a final + win on penalties in the end. You combine all those and you realise something like that won't happen again for a long time.

I mean there is luck and there is LUCK.

Madrid's probably a solid 4th best team in the world this season overall.

Mate, after reading similar posts, it sounds as if a CL is always won by a team who is a king of the world in that season.
I mean, some of our (Barca's) Cl titles were really in that fashion, but in majority of cases, a CL is won by teams who were way weaker than the current Real.

2004: Porto, in knockout rounds won against:
-- Man. Utd, Lyon, Deportivo and Monaco, lol
-- were they the best team in that season? Lol, no
-- who cares and remembers that today?

2005: Liverpool
-- ended 5th in EPL with +37 points (lol) behind Chelsea
-- were they the BEST team in Europe in that season?
-- hell no

2007: Ac Milan
-- ended as 4th in Serie A with +36 (lol again) behind Inter
-- were they the best team in Europe, lol?

2012: Chelsea
-- 6th in EPL

Also, Real's last 5 CL titles:
-- 1998: 4th in La Liga
-- 2000: 5th in La Liga
-- 2002: 3rd in La Liga
-- 2014: 3rd in La Liga
-- 2016: 2nd in La Liga

So, Real won (their) last 5 CL finals in a row.
Plus, in neither of those seasons they were champions of La liga.

CL is not about consistency and playing beautiful for 12 Months.
It is about some luck, mental strength, motivation and hot-form in March-April-May.
