Kroos is going to be greatly missed by Madrid. It’s all well and good saying that they’ll play a different way but there are moments in games when your midfield have to get on the ball and dictate the tempo.

Issue is they could keep it for majority of game then one break and game over.

Yeah, It is only the first game of the pre-season for Carvajal, Mendy, Valverde, Tchouameni, Mbappe, and Bellingham. The second half with Modric, Vasquez, Arda, and Brahim should be different. But it's clear that there is an issue in the Middlefield. It's like the beginning of last season when they switched to 2 attackers and added Bellingham behind them. They are shaky and have not internalized playing this way yet.
