http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19179833 BBC i saying Arsenal pushed him out.

It is understood Van Persie was encouraged by the arrivals of Germany forward Lukas Podolski, France striker Olivier Giroud and Spain midfielder Cazorla - to the point where he was open to the idea of staying with or without a new contract.
But Wenger pulled him aside shortly before Sunday's friendly victory over Cologne, told him he would be sold if a deal could be reached and informed the Dutchman he was no longer part of his plans.

Long before van Persie's statement on his official website, which was basically a euphemistic interpretation of a transfer request, his club were made abundantly aware of the Dutchman's desire to leave. At the end of the last campaign, before the European Championships, he and his representatives sat down with Arsenal and made a set of demands about the running of the club that were so outlandish that the warning signs were impossible to miss. The truth is that Arsenal have expected this day for more than two months. The only issue was when, where and how much.

Tonight Arsenal has confirmed RVP being sold and alot of close sources to Arsenal has also confirmed Wenger has told Song he will be sold. Our situation is little bit similar to barca in 2005 in that we have developed cancer in the club and it really needs a real cleaning and change of mentality. Unlike Barca these guys has never won us anything which makes it even crazier that losers can develop such an ego. Walcott will be sold as well. So thats nasri, Fabregas, RVP, Walcott, and Song in 12 months gone.

I expect Arsenal to sign Capoue, Mirallas and a backup striker

Him and Rooney won't work together. Both are players who need the team to be completely built around them. When Ronaldo was still at United and all the attack went through him, Rooney used to score only 12 - 14 goals a season. Only when Ronaldo left and they built the team around Rooney, Rooney hit the 20 goal mark. RvP is pretty much in the same category. If all the attacking moves aren't channelled through him, he'll look like he does for his national team. One of both will hugely disappoint next season. In the worst case both. Because that squad has no balance at all now. Rooney and RvP must start. Which means 4-4-2. Which will get them dicked in Europe by any half decent side. Where does that signing leave Kagawa? SAF will waste his best (and only) mediapunta on the wing or in CM or on the bench. Because Rooney, RvP and Kagawa would only work in a 4-1-2-1-2 à la Prandelli. But Manchester United don't have Pirlo and De Rossi and Marchisio to play that formation. 87 year old Giggs and 102 year old Scholes will try to hold the midfield together. Nani will get unhappy. As will Valencia. While Welbeck's and Hernandez' developments will stall. Their only leftback is the positionally highly suspect Evra. On the other side they have Rafael. Who is just crap. They will probably win the Premier League anyway. Because that's how the Premier League works. City is their only rival and they are blessed with a completely clueless manager = automatic United win. 1 horse race ever since the Premier League was invented.

About € 30 million for an injury prone 29 year old striker with 1 year left on his contract is an amazing business for Arsenal. If Giroud can hit around 20 goals, Podolski around 15 and Cazorla around 7, they'll be an even better team than the one from previous season. Arsenal will once again surprise everyone. They are un-top4-able. Everyone should know that by now.

Better in Manure than for Gunners? Dream on. Still way too overrated. I wouldn't pay 27 million for the ability to kick ball with one foot on one power.
