This guy seems like he would be a great president for Bilbao.

His response is always one of the four:

1) Xavi
2) La Masia
3) Barca style
4) Messi must be at Barca

Yes, I want Barto out as much as anybody and Font definitely seemed like a great candidate initially, but his rigidity is absolutely concerning.

Barcelona needs someone to take this club into the modern football era...not stick their head in the ground plead "Xavi" "Masia" and "Messi" as a solution

Thing is I don't think that will particularly deter people from voting for him. Rosell and Bartomeu constantly slandered Laporta and ended up winning. No candidate seems particularly great but I fear Font is the only one who has put a detailed plan in place so far, so he almost wins by default.

He's put all his eggs in the Xavi basket, if that goes wrong he's fucked.

Font is losing to Laporta by 40 points in polls around a month ago. He has long way to go, but enough time for him to close the gap, and for Laporta to either close the deal or go self destructive, which he has done both before
7 months is long way

He's dangerously obsessed with the Barca dream with Xavi in the front. It's easy to say all these things but much harder to implement.

His ideas are basically every fan's wet dream, La Masia on the bench, La Masia on the pitch. A Pep era 2.0.

I think Font is just using Cruyff's legacy and Xavi's name to promote himself.
His promises and vision seem so empty without actual plans.
Xavi should know that he should remain politically neutral and that he doesn't have to rush his managerial career in Barca.

How can a guy lose the votes of majority of his backers with one sentence...
Koeman hasn?t even started yet, so why telling you would get rid of a club icon.

What are you gonna do when Koeman starts to clean and built a very promising team who has a great potential and shows clear signs of getting back into CL contention by playing 2020 football instead of sticking with 2010 football.

Fire him for the likes of an unproven club legend and directly lose the dressing room by removing the guy who is making above possible and as much a club legend as Xavi is.

You just lost my vote in 10 seconds even if above won?t happen and Koeman shits te bed.

Victor Font: Even if Koeman had a great season, I wouldn't change my plans. If I became President Koeman would never be the coach.

Bin this guy quickly. No place for naive ideologues in this club.

Did he actually say that? What a dumb statement.

People who believe this:
Maybe you have not followed Font at all.
Because he is not doing that.

Just from his recent tv3 interview:
@victor_font
: ?We need a solid sporting project in all its capacities. Not just one high profile name. Not just a Xavi Hernandez as manager. You need a sporting director who can complement a Xavi Hernandez. You need a board with directors who KNOW football, NOT businessmen.?

I?ve been well aware of Victor Font for a long time. But the guy is betting on Xavi as manager and that?s it. Obviously he says you need a structure compiled of people who KNOW football that?s just obvious isn?t it. We all know Barca was successful with Laporta because he had Cruyff advising him and Begiristain who did a fine job too.

Compare that to the merry go round of appointments during Bartomeus reign and it’s easy to see why the club is a shambles.

Just saying that Font needs to portray a bit more flexibility than believe Xavi is the answer to everything.

Lol, this guy.

If he's elected I'm wondering what he'd do if Xavi would fail. Would he stick with him despite Xavi not doing well? And if Xavi is successful and leaves after 3-4 years like Pep did, then who will Font replace him with if Xavi is the only guy he trusts? Maybe Font will appoint himself as a coach.

He will replace Xavi with Iniesta. :coffee:

I'm pretty sure he knows what to do with his promises. My worry is that those things won't be successful.
He's a very extreme Cruyffista, with full trust in La Masia. He probably will keep to those things if he gets elected, but just how good are we actually going to be on the pitch?

We shouldn't try to emulate the Pep era. It's a wet, but near impossible, dream.

Well, if he brings Xavi and backs him full as he said, it will be Xavi's role to make it work. I have no idea what his style will be. These things go in cycles. Laporta - cruyffista, Rossell/Bartomeu - non cruyffistas, now we will probably have another cruyffista, since Bartomeu fucked it up.

Extremely dumb statement. He’s just coming across as bitter now and wants to do the opposite of everything Barto does thinking that will win him votes. The success of the club should be first so there’s no reason why Koeman shouldn’t stay another year if he does well. He should have said something along those lines. He can still have Xavi later on.

Hope Laporta wins.

Not gonna happen, but wonder what will happen if Xavi decided to stap him in the back and don't support him, or even supported Laporta.
