Vitor Roque (loaned to Real Betis)

I'd say his target is someone like Aguero, but I would qualify Aguero as a skilled dribbler too. In other words, I doubt Roque can be effective at the top level without him being at least a fine dribbler. Just movement and finishing skills aren't enough. Chances aren't gonna be layed on a platter for you most of the time. Often you have to be good enough to go past an opponent. And in the absence of physical qualities in the form of power and/or speed, your main weapon of use has to be a good technique in tight spaces.

Nearly every single young striker is mobile. And a striker of Roque's physical stature has no business being slow. Not a big enough name to stop pressing either. People praising him for the bare minimum. The bar is in hell!

No. Aguero was extremely gifted technically. Extremely. More so than Villa.

Young Aguero was even more of a technician than old Aguero.

Villa was a fine dribbler. He was far more than just a finisher. Let's not forget he could also play winger role, something few strikers can do at an elite level.

Could Roque play wing role as masterfully as Villa did at Barcelona for example?

Villa joined us at the age of 29 and was a inside winger with Messi false 9. More or less of a SS than a real winger, which was Pedro's role at the time. Villa rarely beat his man to create chance, unless you pull his entire career highlight videos as evidence of that to compare with a 19 years old prospect.

There is also an analogy to the comparison here, it isn't a player to player direct comparison, but an example of a player not being flashy but effective, that was Villa (as an example) bread and butter

Villa wasn't a "flashy" dribbler or beating his man, but more of a retaining the ball one, no? But yeah his touch was better and that is what I meant about Roque heavy touch. Although those can improve with time. I remember Drogba improving them even in his 30's with Chelsea, no idea how Villa touch was during Gijon days tbh

Dribbling in the vein of Messi, though obviously not on that level. Lacked the pace to beat his man on the outside wide though. It's easy to find clips of his Zara days, but if you look at 28seconds on this club, it shows his technical level at a young age.

Roque will no doubt improve, but I'd put his technical potential at the level of someone more like Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink. Someone who could fossil a chance out of nothing, but also with first touch and move that was unreliable.

Do you think Vitor can be as good as RL9?

Nah. Imo Villa is one of the most underrated players. He didn't have pace or height, but was elite in most other areas. His technique was very comparable to Aguero's.

Aguero was far superior through out his career tbh, and generally was better player overall than Villa. And surely better dribbler than Villa.

Aguero level is like the absolute best case scenario for Roque, but he won't be a similar profile.

Roque had good actions, I don't think I have seen him do anything naturally like Villa. It was all kind of control with random drop, a jig then a power shot.

Isn't Villa like Spain's all time goalscorer? Elite player like few of his generation. Wish we got him a year sooner.

I disagree. I see Villa as the better player.
Lmao what? It's not close.

Aguero is arguably the best finisher of the generation. On top of that, Aguero has impeccable technique, dribbling, Footy IQ and instincts.

Aguero is the better goalscorer and footballer. Comprehensively so.

Villa was underrated and I respect him but Aguero was elite. This is a shocking take.

Spain wouldn't have won the WC without Villa. Aguero may have been the better player individually and over the course of his whole career, but I know who I want in a big game.
