Greetings.

Inter vs Chelsea means Eto'o vs Drogba.

the question is who is a better striker over all, not just a single season, but career wise, who is the better Striker from these two Africans. consider stats, style, silverware, ext.. i know its a Barca forum, but try and be as objective as possible.

let the debate begin!

Drogba by far.

I disagree. The only advantage Drogba has over Eto'o in my opinion is that he is more physical and maybe a better freekick taker. In every other department, Eto'o is better.

lets look at the stats.

3 leauge titles
2 champions leagues
champtions leage best forward
2 african nations titles
olympic gold medalist
3 time african player of the year
anc's top scorer in history
3rd place wpoty

you cant argue with that. Drogba, has never won the champions league, nor the African Nations cup

Drogba

2 league titles
couple of community sheilds
once african player of the year (ps. eto'o was injured that year)

thats about it

you are arguing on the thought that eto'o was the focal point of barcelona... he clearly wasnt. he was a part of a well oiled machinery at barcelona. the debate in here is about who is a better striker not who won more as a part of a team. eto'o was in a cameroon team that had the likes of mboma, geremi, song, lauren, foe whilst ivory coast wasnt even on the map. that was an era of the indominatable lions and ivory coast has finally starting to show to be the best team in africa.

also chelsea's record in champions league has been nothing short of consistent ever since drogba has been a part of the team. they have made atleast semis in 4 of the 5 seasons that drogba has been playing for them.

drogba has the capability of single-handedly changing games. he is powerful, has better ball control, much better at heading, set piece taker, passer, and shooter. only thing that eto'o has on top of him is probably pace and acceleration.

drogba has been easily the better striker by quite a distance in this season alone with 18 goals in 21 games whilst eto'o is struggling to adapt to a new team and has 9 goals in 22 games.

Its not like Drogba has been playing with a poor team. Drogba's quality as a striker is seen against last years semis against Barca. I think in terms of ball control, passing, and inteligence(reading the game), Eto'o is way better. He's been bred in the spanish style of football, and its by far more technical than the physical EPL. as far as this year is concerned, its no doubt that He's struggling due to the fact that he is in a new team, league.

How exactly is Drogba better than Eto? I'm particularly interested in arguments that "Eto played for a better oiled team". I see people using an argument where if a striker plays for a "better" team, he is immediately weaker than other one that is playing elsewhere. And I'm not even touching a ludicrous thing about Chelsea not being a world class team, under Mourinho or Hiddink, make your pick. FFS We scrapped a stoppage time goal against them after hardly being able to make a single attempt on target during an entire game and where they were probably denied few penalties. Our assistant manager Tito openly admitted few days ago that in that very match he turned to Pep saying: "I don't see how we can score a goal".
Defoe has 13 goals and Ibra has 11. Hm.. Defoe is better than Ibra. Must be, as he plays for a weaker team.
Seriously....
Same thing applies to another theory where all of a sudden Ibra will head in all those crosses that we failed to bag before. How many did he head in so far?
These things only look well on paper, reality is something else.

so you are pointing your fingers at me? alright, if you want me to answer that then I will.

If Eto'o was such an important part of our team, then why did Pep insist that he gets sent away? Drogba has been a mainstay for the Chelsea project from day 1 whilst Eto'o was replaceable unlike Messi.

Drogba has managed to propel Chelsea to 3 semis, 1 final and 1 R16... to this point, we have to all agree that Chelsea have been extremely unlucky to not win the Champions League whilst being so close all the time.

As Meta said, Drogba is a much much better striker than Eto'o who is a goalscorer just like Defoe.

Drogba is the better all rounder but Eto'o has a goalscoring record that a lot of players only dream of.
