How can you say Iniesta ahead of Messi ? Confused by that, Messi has far and away been our and indeed the world's best player.

messi scored 38 goals and played about a thousand more minutes of football than iniesta.

iniesta is not the demon in the final third that messi is, nor is he the heartbeat of the side like xavi. he is a bridge between the two (but not as important to us as either - witness cruising death run 1 without him) and, yes, a spectacular player to watch and a genius of football. but better than messi this year? with the amount of games the lil' fella won us? not a chance.

Exactly that Meta. People like to appear different so it's become de rigeur (as we're using French phrases) to dimiss Messi as the best player in the world and choose somebody slightly less obvious.

Well he did win all the same team trophies, and he's a better player IMO, so I guess he did.
