They scored, France didn't. France have had this reputation as an elite team for years now and have done nothing to justify it, whereas Portugal won a trophy and punch above their weight.

I think Brazil have proved having the players isn't enough.

Although France are also starting to look good.

France is like Argentina, a bunch of individuals who really don't play as a team. These two teams won't achieve anything if they don't play as a team.

Difference is that Argentina doesnt really have a great squad, only a great attack(on paper), France have quality all over the pitch.
France have raised their game when they have needed to, so far, even if they are dull most of the time. We will see if thats enough against Belgium.

I don't like Deschamps myself, but it's not fair to criticise him. Afer all, reached Euro final and now he's one match away from the WC final.

It makes me think of England when we had a team with numerous world-class players like Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Rooney, Cole, and yet played terrible football and were embarrassed by the likes of Slovenia and Algeria. Before the WC people were saying this is the worst English squad in decades, yet it's gone on to do way better than the "golden generation" ever did. It shows again that football is a team game.

Interestingly, I felt Belgium is another team that is like Argentina and France with a bunch of star players and no cohesive team groove. We will see how they end up.

A lucky draw also helps... 👍🏽

I wouldnt say that, their comeback against Japan would go to show that they can stick in there when things get tough, a bunch of individuals likely wouldnt have made it back, i think.

An easy draw like Algeria, Slovenia and the USA in 2010, where we barely got through the group and played the shittest football you could possibly imagine?

Stop being salty. We've beaten the teams we've needed to beat and deserve to be where we are.

There is just a basic thing for Englabd : the draw. Last editions they were unlucky (well Euro 2016 was an humiliation with Island...), this year they have a clear table to reach final if they don't choke vs Russia or Croatia.
