World Cup 2022

So many national teams having something of a collapse after winning a trophy, makes you value that Spain-side even more, 3 straight tournaments, incredible consistency.

Would Italy swap that Euro win for a place in the World Cup?

Ofcourse not. They don't have much chance in WC.

They have already won Euro, a massive trophy in its own right.

I think you asked that because there's just a different charm and romance to seeing your team even participate in the World Cup.

Pragmatically, they'll take the Euro win.

Glimmer hope for US or Mexico to snatch the pot 1 spot off Portugal with good enough results this window but Portugal would probably just end up drawing Qatar anyway with their luck

They fluked the Euro. It's a league/country in terminal football decline.

Last 4 WCs: Didn't play, Didn't play, Group Stages, Group Stages.

That's 16 years of mediocrity on the highest stage.

Let's be fair, you don't do a streak of four years without a loss on national level these days.

It has been a good run, but after Euro the momentum fizzled out a bit.

Poland are so atrocious.

Just got a new coach who had his first game today.

The team looks shocking.

Lewandowski gonna catch the WC on TV.....

They were fine considering circumstances. Not much in way of chances but saved themselves for Tuesday quite a bit and still looked fair way better than Scots on ball.

One positive is that Sweden n Czech Rep. are knackered after playing 120 mins today.

World Cup wont be the same without Italy.. One of the great nations that always come good at tournaments. Shame they wont be there.

You'd think that matters but it almost doesn't. Poland have a bottling gene when it comes to big occasion football. Euro 2016 is the only anomaly, all other fixtures they were supposed to prep for they were atrocious historically.

Matty Cash is excellent though, probably one of two best RBs Poland ever had.

Ikr. That's why I'm not getting my hopes up. Sweden will win.
