..

Let's say this one more time:
The yardstick of whether progress is being made is not reflected in the points, especially in a two horse league like LL,
but in the performance of the team on the pitch week in, week out

There is minimal progress there since Xavi took over, and we are stagnated with the same ineffective patterns of play and the same problems since a loooong while

Good to get 3 pts vs Atleti but a hard watch and team was awful after the goal.

A lot of praise for the defence and they defended their are well but that back four bar Christensen is not what you would expect to see from a Barca team on the ball and Atleti pressed them to point looked clueless too often.

Kounde is not good enough on ball to be worth the money as a RB and if he is CB with Araujo that pairing as good and athletic as are defensively dont have it. Same with Balde.. ok on ball for now but average at best and not great playing out from back consistently.

All made worse when they have a DM trotting about on front of them not even really interested in taking ball in tight spaces.

To be fair FDJ was not good on ball either in that left DM/cover position.

The shape of midifled and attack on front of those DMs was just a free for all with no clear outline or plan of how team was playing.

Take 3 pts and move on but wont win too often v even bang average EL Atleti sides playing like that.

Winning Liga is always a good result. Though i hope Xavi won't lose too early in Europa and must not lose to Utd of all teams.

Issue with the chart is that La Liga has gone to shite. We are getting closer and closer to level of Serie A and French league.

But good on Xavi for leading the table.

well shoot, we sure could use a natural finisher for when Lewi scratches his nose again

Good to see the 3-4-3 with best CBs vs Atleti but entire team looked drunk clumsy and we failed to exploit Dembz who was free on the left a lot with tons of space to punish Atletico's high line.

Going forward, possi 3-4-3 :

MaTs
Kounde - Araujo - Andreas
Dej
Gavi - Pedri - Balde
Raph - Lewi/Auba - Bouze

Xavi's instructions on point with wanting to see more forward passes, through-balls and shooting.

Either the fault is with the players being too shy/conservative as their "default" mode or it's on the coaches for not instilling automatic attack mode via drills patterns in practice _ so that it becomes 2nd nature.

We can look at la Liga results and think that we are pretty good, but if anyone watches the games, it becomes obvious we are hanging by a thread.

Last game when Atletico pressed, xavi tried multiple changes and the players just couldn't string two simple passes together. Pedri overheld the ball and lost it countless times, Dembele couldn't control, Balde wasn't at his best, Kounde couldn't dribble anyone, Mats passed to the stands while open players were available and fati can't provide back to goal spreading of the game.
The players do need to step up at some points, we can't always blame the coaches, even if they have faults too.

Depends on the games, vast majority of them we dominate and create plenty of chances.

Except for Osasuna where we played in 10 men for 65 mins, Atletico and Celta are probably only 2 matches were we have created fewer chances than the opponent. Even in the Clasico we created more chances than Madrid.
