Xavi's evolution as a coach is so interesting.

Despite playing in exclusively possession based team, under possession based coaches, his entire career, he has grown to favour a defensive approach.

And it might have been a bad watch but it sure was effective. Madrid may not have scored for another 90 minutes.

The reason is obvious. Tata Martino is his favourite coach he played under.

Xavi is a realist. He knows we don't have the players needed to play fancy stuff, and he adapts. Sign of a future top class manager.

You're welcome
I tend to be a bit more lenient at times with our coaches. I am ok with Xavi staying. Xavi at least has the respect of the players and gets them to play with intensity. You might appoint a Tuchel and have a great few weeks until he loses the dressing room and players lose will to fight for the coach.

Couldn't have timed this better than post it today before Clasico. As ugly as it was, that was a masterclass in defending and mentality.

Xavi dismantling Real Madrid confidence piece by piece.

35 % possession, if it was Koeman or EV they would be crucified in this forum.

So TRUE this!

Double standards all the way.

I take it only because it was against the CUNT club.
In any other game, against any other opponent, that was abhorrent football for Barca

Don't agree we don't have players to play good football. Our midfield crop (when all fit) is probably the best in the world.

Look at the game Kessie played today, after you all were trashing him and saying how shit he is. Having that guy as a backup is a huge luxury.

But nothing wrong with favouring a defensive approach, as long as it works.

I want to be fair to Xavi. The team lacks quality to play Tiki-Taka or possession football against R. Madrid.
If he tried that, it would look like Setien. But it's really bad to watch Madrid dominating like that, even if they didn't score.

Aye adapted magnificently in europe when can only beat Plzn in last 10 games.

Today was just about sitting deep and defending balls really and fair enough in this game.

Last season we trashed them 4-0 dominating them all game, this time we shut up shop and 1-0ed them. Good to know we are very flexible and can win either way depending on what we set out to do.

Missed so many key players? Compensate with top notch dedication and discipline in defense. Job done, but tie is still very open. Haven't beaten Madrid on Camp Nou in quite a while.

Madrid had 0 shots on target. Defensive masterclass. Try playing champagne football with a retard like Raphinha upfront and without three of your best players.

See you on Sunday.

What did they set out to do v Man U? Or Inter/Bayern/Frankfurt.

Real were poor tonight also.

Barca defended well enough to keep them out.
