I don't think Xavi's past it. The problem is more with the system than with the players. The pressing is gone, the team is quite different from back when pep was here.

Xavi IS system
they call him Cerebro in Spain because of that...and that system is now gone because he has faded away, let´s not live in denial
he can still play big games but certainly not 50 games a season, more like 20 as full starter

Huh, no. The players are not pressing like they used to. There's only so much Xavi can do. A lot of things are lacking. It's not just a matter of putting thiago for xavi and all is well again. far from it.

he slows the play down too much because there is nobody to pass to,we are not even creating triangles anymore!!!
go watch some old Barca tiki taka videos to see what I mean, the lack of one twos and off the ball movement from the whole team is plain ridiculous to see

Xavi doesn't have bad games, He is the most consistent player i have ever seen, Him and messi to be exact, When you put xavi in the line-up, You'll get exactly what you expect, Nothing more, Nothing less.

Exactly. That and the fact we don't press AT ALL anymore.
Xavi hasn't faded away, he is one of most consistent players in the world, he rarely has bad games.

Xavi:"Our team is still a good team and one that can keep on winning for many years, even if we didn't know how to play against Bayern or Real Madrid."

Consistent in what this season? Aside from the Milan game his play has been pretty dull and uninspiring. He's consistent in terms of not being error prone and being an overall correct player but not anything more this season. He hasn't really showed that spark of genius with attack minded passes when we could use them, he's slowed down our play a lot, and many times just passes for the sake of it without purpose anymore.

I love Xavi but he is not having a good season. He's in a decline but I wouldn't say he's completely past it. He can bring the magic back but not as often as he used to and we can't be as dependent on him. Part of it is that he's suffering from Tito's current system where the team is complacent. I'm sure that if the team around him were to step up and start playing at full level then Xavi would be much much better, but still not at the level of his prime.

I agree completely. One really has to wonder for how long somebody has been a fan of Barca if they think this is the same Xavi of old. He has moments and games where he shows his old self but particularly when the quality of the opposition is higher and particularly when opponents do a better job of pressing and pressuring Xavi, he has struggled mostly this season. His movement isn't anywhere near close to what it used to be......

Xavi isn't anymore our present IMO. He leads our team to victory in the past, same for Spain but I think that many midfielders are better than him actually.
Gundogan, Carrick, David Silva, Schweinsteiger... Thiago needs to step up and to play more next season.

Xavi isn't totally over but I think that he made his time. Hard to say but this is my opinion...

The only reason Xavi has been poor lately (by his high standards) is because he's been ridiculously overplayed. Next season, I want to see a lot more squad rotation, especially with Xavi, Puyol and Abidal.

I think the two Barca players who are ridiculously overplayed are Messi and Alves. Xavi does get rest at times when he plays at the Nou Camp (when Thiago subs in for him) but he doesn't get much rest when Barca play away games because Thiago hardly ever performs well away from home.
