At least someone should tell Xavi to stop take the free kicks when Messi isn't there. They're more like floating crosses than shots.

His free kicks have a 5% chance of going in and it's downright sad. For a decade I've watched him take the same free kick and score maybe if we're lucky one goal a season from them. Neymar and Messi need to boot him out and say enough with these floating crosses Xavi.

Okay, here is the actual breakdown of players for the seven Barça losses 2012-2013, sorted by number of starts:

barca-losses.gif

According to the (absurd) criteria "he who starts in the most losses, sucks the most," Alves is the grand prize winner, the ONLY Barça player to start AND complete ALL seven losses. Iniesta and Pedro also started 7 games, but were subbed off at least once.

Of the players, like Xavi, who started 6 of the 7 losses, Pique, Messi, Alba, and Valdes completed all of their 6 starts. Xavi was the only one of the 6-game starters to be subbed off.

Busquets was the only other player to start and complete a significant number of losses (5 started, 5 completed). Fabregas started 4 losses, but only completed 1.

So, Xavi is actually 8th down the list, by your own statistical criteria, of the 9 most relevant starters in Barça's losses.

That's not the point. Messi scored 60 goals last year, Iniesta had 20 assists. Pique had to play due to lack of CB's. Same with Alves and Alba. Pedro sucked most of last year that's a fact and I have a problem with that too.

Xavi only gave 9 assists last year which by his standards is below average. Xavi takes all our set pieces crosses into the box, which I don't think we even scored more than 1 or 2 goals on last year, he takes half the free kicks which he scored one goal on last year. He takes a key role and is stagnating while there is options we can try like Song, Roberto now, Thiago last year. As I said I'm not blaming him for all the losses but he is the oldest therefore should be rotated more than the young guys in the big games.

This I agree with, I'm not even excited when we have a free-kick in a good position when I see Xavi is the one taking the free-kick. Maybe 1 in 100 is good, the rest is crap.

I like his free kicks. He nearly scored against Levante.

Still wouldn't mind seeing Fabregas or Neymar take a go.

Xavi isn't that good at taking FKs. It sometimes works for him but I wouldn't let him take one if a FKs was the decide a game.

Did we see , last night , the beginning of the end of Xavi !??

Why on earth was he on at all , let alone all the match ?

The way AM were kicking us all around the park I'd have brought Xavi off QuickTime and put Song on to use his special "gifts" :)

This season?? Have we even got a FK this season yet??
I meant pre-season as well.

Yeah , because a player can be judged by only 2-3 freekicks.

I specifically said so far this season. So far Messi has either hit straight against the wall or completely missed the goals. Xavi's free-kicks have been more dangerous and yet he's being hated on. I'm not the one doing the judging, you are.

In the second half Iniesta was worse I believe.

I don't know what game you were watching. Xavi was the only player to understand and withstand the Atletico pressing. It was the rest of Barça who got bullied, not him.
