Sport claims Xavi decided to leave right after the game vs Atletico, and that Lucho has tried to convince him to stay, to no avail.

He is going to be so underrated in the future. Bet people will remember Pirlo, Iniesta and Scholes as better midfielders. Just the thought is making me cry.

No chance with Pirlo and Scholes. Iniesta on the other hand is the best midfielder of all time so he has a case.

Nevertheless, Xavi will go down as an all time great.

I'm heartbroken by the inevitable news. But if that is what Xavi truly wants then I will be happy for him no matter what. Xavi, like Puyol for me, is an emblem of the club. Stuck with our club trough the absolute worst and the absolute best of times. He gave everything, until he could not give anymore. I have nothing but massive respect and admiration for him no matter what path he chooses.

Koke (Atletico): "Xavi going to Qatar? We don't know anything yet, he didn't tell us anything. I hope he'll be with us for many more years."

With us at Barcelona? :pep:

Yes, absolutely. He has that stubborness and fiercely loyal to the style, pretty much like Pep.
but a coach needs a strong personality, which I doubt Xavi has. Puyol could be a better one.

del Bosque said he missed a captain like Puyol at this WC. That's what you call an example to follow.

I think Xavi is not as outgoing and obvious as Puyol but i bet he has a really sharp mind.

I have some reservations of him being a coach. Might turn out be a stubborn coach like Tito or Del Bosque. Would rather prefer a tactically versatile coach who isnt afraid to take strong and quick decisions (aka Tata)

Why do you doubt he has a strong personality? To reach the top in any field requires a strong personality especially something as competitive as football.

I don't think he would be able to shout at the players and motivate them. Just my feelings.

To me his stubborness show he has personality and is very strong-willed and motivated. That quality is also one of the reasons he's stayed at Barca until now.

As cule4life said, it remains to be seen of what level of stubborness he will be showing, but I have no doubt that he has the personality. Just hope that the board will be much more stable than the current one.
