It was a good performance, but really? This Xavi is still very very good if used correctly, but he was something else during the 2008-2012 period. One could say that today's Xavi is capable of bossing the lower/mid table teams, but prime Xavi could dominate any team in the world.

Like I said he looks to be better than Iniesta lately... Rakitic/Xavi should be our default starting duo, with Iniesta as supersub. We don't have anyone else who can control the midfield, our oher CMs are too gung ho.

If Xavi is to play on the left, the problem is Neymar: 1) I don't think Xavi would have the patience for Neymar's ball holding and lack of fluid passing, 2) he'd have to cover defensively for Neymar.

If Rakitic plays on the left, then Xavi has to cover for Alves on the right- unless Alves takes a less advanced role.

Neymar annoys me with his constant dribbling that fails every second time. He is very good but he would be excellent if he got a little bit more invested in the build up.

Anyway, Xavi--Rakitic offers more control and stability to the midfield.

I would love to watch Iniesta play as a left winger again. But Neymar's stardom makes it difficult to experiment other possibilities quite often.
