Disgusting. He's still way too good for a crappy league like Qatar. Are there even any streams for those matches?

The league is shit and the country itself very shady, but they probably offered him stupid money, I don't remember the exact figures but I think it was 10M€/year with a 7years contract (3 as a player, 4 as a coach/ambassador) ... that's 70M€ for a 35, it's way better than anything barça could offer him, or any other team/league for that matter.

I personally don't blame, enjoy Maestro !

Not to mention taxes. Pretty high on Spain, as far as I know.

After a long career on probably a few hundred thousand per week would he really need any more m9ney

People always need more money, that's hardly an argument, otherwise all football players would retire once they passed their peak instead of going to MLS, Qatar or Russia.

Post 5 mil its just money hungry behaviour imo. I love Xavi but im dissapointed that he chooses to go to Qatar for money while his grands children's grandchildren wil be rich for life. Its greedy capitalism

He already stayed longer than he planned to, to help the team, I have no problem with him thinking about himself, again, all footballers are greedy to a certain level, some even to traitor levels (ronaldo9, figo, ..) .. I have the outmost respect for guys like xavi, puyol, etc.. that are loyal and stay as long as the team needs them while they could easily be getting much more money in other teams.

Look at the problem RM is having with Casillas, doesn't wanna leave unless he's paid and allowed to leave for free (basically RM will be paying his wage for him to go elsewhere) and doesn't wanna be benched, next to that, that a legend like Xavi stayed to be on the bench and give his best when he's called up every once in a while is a huge mark of loyalty and accomodating the club before himself.

Xavi is a legend, nothing he does now will ever change that.

Me neither, as I said, love Xavi, he can go do whatever makes him happy. Its just dissapointed that he turns out be an extremely money hungry person. But it wont change how I view him as a barca legend of course.

How is it difficult? I can say right now that I wouldnt care about an extra 10 mil if I was already loaded. I wouldnt go live in Alaska or Qatar for it.
I would if I wasnt filthy rich.

Yeah sure. If you had a couple of Millions, your lifestyle would change completely and you would think about money differently. There is probably no difference between 100 Mil. and 105 Mil. (even there is one) but there is one between (let's say) 50 Mil. and another 50 Mil. that Xavi could earn somewhere.
I think he is a down to earth guy so is not spending his money on a ton of shoes, jewelry, parties and all that stuff but 50 Mil. more are 50 fucking Mil. more. You would never ever have to think about money again and could support things that you want to. Family, charity, an island or some shit where you can search for mushrooms the whole day (in Xavi's case). There is a difference.

If this quote is true, It's solid gold. Apparently in an interview he talked about how he idolized Schuster and Pep, and then he said that he learned Pep's way of playing, his movements, vision etc. and internalized the approach to such an extent that even when he is in a restaurant, he prefers to sit with his back against the wall or a corner so that he has full vision of the space.
