There is an element of La Masia thinking they created Xavi and Iniesta and trying to repeat that with nice little team players that are all about respect.

Moved away from that in recent and started pushing through those that are physically ready and have pace/power or individual attributes.

Xavi and Iniesta were geniuses that happened to come through around same time and at a time Barca had more of a pick on those type of player that other clubs were not chasing. Much more so than being products of La Masia.

La Masia with Cruyff's principles existed for at best 30 years, which means it's a small numbers game. BBZ just doesn't seem to grasp simple probability.

Last generation (Alena, Samper, maybe Puig etc pp) was bad, but Gavi and Nico* look like a different class already. If one of them succeeds then that is a massive success story for our youth development. Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta, Thiago,... how many other clubs produced talent like that in these numbers? Which other youth setup, preferably focusing on abandoning kids in the woods to make real men (300 style), were more successful? It's one thing to complain, but at least give some real life alternatives.

*are those two not La Masia poster boys? But Gavi shows grit and Nico is huge... how does that fit in with your narrative BBZ8800?

Choir boys Xavi and Iniesta are the most successful football players of all time.

7 major cup titles - 7 W, 0 L

2006,2009,2011,2015 CL
2008,2012 Euro Cup
2010 WC.

Fuck outta here with this "too nice" agenda. They were mental giants/killers on the football pitch.

True.

Why have nice killers and perennial winners when you can have mean thugs like Paulinho who ended up in China :alveshat:

Wonder if BBZ would pick the physical mean Rakitic over the nice, humble Modric.

Is it La Masia itself or did the club just get luck to get so many talents at once? Remember the same happened for Brasil too

Mission impossible

I don't think prime Klopp/Pep could fix this current mess. I'm expecting a few decent games early on (honeymoon) followed by the same shit we've witnessed the past 3-4 years. He'll put his trust in Pique, Alba and Busquets who in turn will continue to fuck over this club

poor xavi. this team is dysfunctional beyond repair and itll make him look like gary neville at valencia. for all the time he spent 'waiting' to come here, he didnt choose the right time in the end

He should have been given job in the summer with time to implement his ideas and get in own medical staff etc.

Fuck up from top to bottom by board undermining Koeman then keeping him in place until realise had fucked up and left Xavi to come in with shit situation.

They are lucky he still wanted the job.

Had a shitty day, busy with COVID related problems (not me, I'm vaccinated), I'm kind of late, but... Welcome home, Xavi!

Will take time to shake off the dead tempo philosophy that was on this team since 2015 and install his vision of football. Haven't been this excited ever, I was skeptical even when they appointed Pep as I wanted Rijkaard to continue coaching. With the youth and inexperience in the squad, we as fans, will need a lot of patience as the transformation will not happen overnight. Reaction of the socios will be key in the beginning as they run the club, Laporta's decisions are influenced by that, he was initially against Xavi appointment.

As for the transfer rumours of Koman and such... I don't buy it. Xavi probably had a conversation with a journalist on players he likes and named a few. That doesn't mean he wants to buy these guys at any price, given the current situation at the club they seem unrealistic.
