From EV's topic since I think it is more suitable here:
Anfield finished this club.
I still think that Pep's era killed our club longterm.
We are the victims of our own success, hype and delusions.
Around 2009-2011 and later, our fans and neutrals started to write songs and movies about our style.
And then the fame has hit our heads and everyone surrounding the club (board, media, fans, players) started to believe that we are Gods on Earth.
We are the best, we are different, we are more than the club, we don't play only to win = we play to entertain, wins without entertainment are useless, lol.
And then, if we really are Gods:
= why should we changed anything?
Our only idea was to replicate the same recipe from 2009-2011 and to prolong our domination as long as possible.
1. this is why we are sticking to our footballing philosophy from 2009-2011
2. this is why we are hiring Barca DNA coches and sporting directors = since they are the most likely to buy the right players and to teach our players how to play exactly the same as in 2011
3. this is why we are sticking to the same profile of players (short, slow, technical, no true no9, no pacey wingers but attacking midfielders/no10 turned into wingers)
4. this is why we are keeping Xavi, Iniesta, Busi, Alves, Pique as long as possible. Why? = well, they were the part of our famous era when we started to believe that we are Gods. And why should we get rid of Gods? We need to keep them as long as possible.
5. this is why we gave insanely lucrative wages to Busi, Pique and majority of our players. Why? = again, to keep them here. Since our style from 2011 was Godlike, our players from 2011 were Godlike and we needed to do whatever it takes to keep them here as long as possible
Now, if you check what Laporta and Xavi are doing = more or less they are doing still all these 5 things.
Time will tell:
1. whether this way is the right way and going back to top
2. or further falling down and a death of Barca
I think I know the answer, but ok.
