Frenkie or Nico as false 9?

Luuk can/should have been utilised considering our goal output, but only as reverting to a front two. Better than having Gerard Pique Huth revert to ST for example.

No shame in throwing in crosses, especially when Dembele and Abde are wide players who throw the ball into general areas and not serve on a plate.

Issue is that Luuk is even less dangerous in front of goal than likes of Pique and Araujo.

It's not his height or play style that is the problem, the problem is that Luuk's level is far below the minimum requirement. Even Braithwaite is better.

Frenkie's talent for a false 9/attacking talent is somewhere on the level of 2nd Austrian league.

From EV's topic since I think it is more suitable here:
Anfield finished this club.

I still think that Pep's era killed our club longterm.

We are the victims of our own success, hype and delusions.

Around 2009-2011 and later, our fans and neutrals started to write songs and movies about our style.
And then the fame has hit our heads and everyone surrounding the club (board, media, fans, players) started to believe that we are Gods on Earth.
We are the best, we are different, we are more than the club, we don't play only to win = we play to entertain, wins without entertainment are useless, lol.

And then, if we really are Gods:
= why should we changed anything?
Our only idea was to replicate the same recipe from 2009-2011 and to prolong our domination as long as possible.

1. this is why we are sticking to our footballing philosophy from 2009-2011
2. this is why we are hiring Barca DNA coches and sporting directors = since they are the most likely to buy the right players and to teach our players how to play exactly the same as in 2011
3. this is why we are sticking to the same profile of players (short, slow, technical, no true no9, no pacey wingers but attacking midfielders/no10 turned into wingers)
4. this is why we are keeping Xavi, Iniesta, Busi, Alves, Pique as long as possible. Why? = well, they were the part of our famous era when we started to believe that we are Gods. And why should we get rid of Gods? We need to keep them as long as possible.
5. this is why we gave insanely lucrative wages to Busi, Pique and majority of our players. Why? = again, to keep them here. Since our style from 2011 was Godlike, our players from 2011 were Godlike and we needed to do whatever it takes to keep them here as long as possible

Now, if you check what Laporta and Xavi are doing = more or less they are doing still all these 5 things.

Time will tell:
1. whether this way is the right way and going back to top
2. or further falling down and a death of Barca

I think I know the answer, but ok.

You really have to wonder if he is willing to adapt to the intensity of clubs like Bayern or if he will stick to his purist ideas. If it's true that he still sees Busquets as an important part of the team then that might answer that question.

You can play with his ideal style and still play with intensity. Pep has no problem playing that way at City so there is no reason why Xavi can't get Barcelona playing that way at Barcelona. It's just going to take time to get the quality of players in. The state of the squad is shocking and is nowhere near where it needs to be in order to compete at the highest level.

How many teams have been able to play successfully Pep's style, WITHOUT being coached by Pep himself?

Do we have any practical proofs that it is possible at all?
Regardless of quality of our players.

And even Pep himself managed to play it only with the Messi+Xavi+Iniesta, Champions league winners Bayern and oil rich City.
