At the beginning, it will fix the luck of draw thing. 1st of the A group will play the last of the B group and so on until the finals.
You won't see a City- Bayern in the last 8 in the ESL, unless one of them is in a shitty year and finishes lower in the group

Eventually, when it will become a proper league all the way, by eliminating the knock out element, it will fix also the knock-out fluke thing as well

Sorry it that was badly written what happens when you get distracted midway through typing a response at 350am lol. I meant that if they remove the knockout element and shift it to a league format then luck will player a much smaller factor possibly at the cost of the spectacle and hype around the competition. Like the story and the jeopardy is what most spectators like from knock out cup competitions.

We will see what happens anyway. I'm not fussed either way tbh.
