Arteta almost managed to equal Udo Lattek as the greatest clown in league history.

Udo Lattek with FC Barcelona had a 5 point lead with 6 games left, only needed 2 wins and 1 draw to win the league, managed 2 points in final 6 games.

Arteta was just slightly better, had a 5 point lead, needed 16 points from last 27 to win the league, 5 wins and 1 draw from last 9, if drawing with city in round 33 would have needed only 4 wins from last 9 to win the league.

This is the first time Emery has had a squad of this quality where he has not had to babysit a bunch of self declared second coming of Jesus like Neymar or Aubameyang. 20 wins in the first 32 league games is up there with the Villa teams of the 1890s.

Emery is doing marvelous at Villa, but then current day Villa is that perfect environment of freedom, lower pressure and high potential that he enjoyed with Sevilla and Villarreal.
