It depends on the timeframes that we are comparing.

Is it an improvement to last season? I think so. As mentioned, Xavi was mentally not there.

Is it an improvement to Xavi before that, when we comfortably won the league? Remains to be seen. So far, I don't think so.

Xavi was also positive and had a great relationship with everyone at the start.

Perhaps, the problem Xavi had was he cared too much about what the media said and he blew up and was never the same after December 2023. That’s how I see it tbh..

Interesting thread that we will once probably come back to and laugh at how a serial winner like Flick was compared to Xavi Hernandez

I love Xavi and have a massive respect for him. Even the league which was won defying all logic I respect it a lot, we were pretty shit back then and it's good that he managed to give us 2 trophies in such times. To speak of respect I have for him as a player would be pointless.

But still this is a silly comparison. I genuinely think it exists just because Xavi was our previous coach so people tend to rewrite history and say how it's been beautiful under him. In reality one manager has a sextuple, was the assistant coach behind a WC winning side and delivers uncomparably better and more enjoyable football. Never comparable.

I like both for the timing.
Xavi brought calm effect to the Camp Nou and helped a massive rebuild, but his time was over and we needed to start increasing our pace, and Flick is good for that.

Both. It's a good mix and a good transition from Xavi to Flick and hopefully the next manager will continue like this.

Flick's style of football is more appealing to me. Xavi won big, which Flick might not be able to do playing this way.

If Flick manages to get it done, he instantly becomes our best manager since Pep.

If some top signings are made, comparison becomes irrelevant as the teams they had become too different.

Right now we can compare. Xavi won the league with Balde, Araujo, Christensen, Kounde, Busi, Pedri, Alba, De Jong, Gavi, Raphinha, Lewa, Dembele as main core. Flick gets Olmo and Yamal instead, plus some extra Barca talents like Cubarsi and Casado. And Inigo who is our best defender this season. And Raphinha who is not in his debut season anymore.

Very similar, might even give an edge to Flick a bit.
