Xavi better than Iniesta
Iniesta better than everyone else, and I do mean everyone else.

With the possible exception of modric.

Damn! 50-50 votes split rn.

@KingLeo10 finally a close contest in these polls. :zidane:

Gotta admit, I thought this wouldn't happen because for me the winner is clear here.

Yeah.

On the other hand, some of the people who rate Xavi higher didn't even vote lol.

Why no posters with Xavi usernames though? Can only think of Xaviesta....

Xavi's career picked up quite a bit earlier. He caught about 4 cycles at the team, not all of them great. Early 00s pre-Ronnie cycle, Ronnie and pre-Messi cycle, golden Pep era, then a bit of post Pep era too.

He's closer to Puyol's generation. Puyol is also a bit underrated for younger fans. Such a huge leader.

Controversial take alert!

I don't think Puyol is underrated.

He was one of the best captains and personalities the game has seen.

But purely talent and ability wise he wasn't on some of the all time great CB's level.

Total Barca legend and warrior though.

Nothing to compare here. Xavi was world class for like 5 years (2008-2013), when he was playing with Iniesta and Busquets. Before that he was not important player for Barca or Spain and in 2008 he was 28. Iniesta is all time great and Busquets is best ever DM. Rakitic also looked great with prime Busi, Iniesta and Messi - not coached by Pep, but Enrique.

Xavi un 2008-2012 is better than any other mid though so saying 'world class' doesnt quite cut it for how good he was.

Rakitic never even looked remotely near Xavi level at any point. He was at his best under Lucho when he was used to allow Alves more freedom to get forward and come inside and link with Messi.

That Lucho team was all about MSN.. that midfield did not dominate games really at all.

What has Busquets achieved since Xavi retired? More than Xavi did without him? I think not.

Xavi was the conductor. Everything went through him. Every player played to his tune, even the greatest of them all, Messi.

It was like it was his game and everyone else was only there because he had invited them to participate. The proverbial chess player who moved his pieces around the board.

He decided if the game would be slow or if it was to be injected with a bit of pace. His dominance unparalleled, he played with slippers on and then had his opponents queue up to clean them afterwards.

Had there been an instance when Xavi was not in control of the game, you half expected him to pick the ball up and take it home and for all the other players to clap him off and apologise for the audacity of diverting the game from the way Xavi had directed it should be played.

Spain with largely the same team went to shit after Xavi declined and likes of Busi and the rest were largely embarrased.

Xavi was the main man in Spain team that won intl trophy came along.

Anyone thinking Xavi was lucky to play with Busi more so than other way round is a numpty. Plain and simple.
