Yaya Toure

Yaya would never, and I mean never get benched by average Mikel.. you are talking about one of the worlds best DMs, you know that right?
we'd never sell him for under 25, at least not when Txiki is gone.

barca96, you know he's originally a AM.

and he plays there for Cote d'Ivoire aswell. if you were talking about CB then that was last season..

Ofcourse he would play over Mikel. But that wasn't my point was it. I said they won't play Yaya over Essien and they already have decent cover in Mikel so they wont pay anywhere near what Barca need in transfer fee for someone who will sit on the bench.

You just simply want to believe that Barca have more opstions than they do. The 2 options available are:

1) Sell Yaya to City and then have a good chance of signing Cesc.
2) Keep Yaya and not have enough to fund the Cesc deal and City will simply move on and get someone else.

sorry missed that part, but they're selling Ballack remember. i've seen a bit of their matches in 2010 when Essien played and they're trying to give him a more offensive roll. so it's basically going to be:

toure
essien-lampard

That's what I think would happen too, Toure would be the DM. Essien is naturally a CM so he'd probably be alongside Lamps.

yeah, if that wouldn't work then switch essien with yaya because we all know how essien is as a DM and touré is excellent as AM

There is simply no way Chelsea will pay what Barca need for Yaya. Its just not gunna happen. You options are limetid to the 2 i listed in my last poist. Just read the Chelsea forums. They believe the same as i do.

are you trying to convince me or yourself? :p the choices are these imo:

city - 20-30 mil(possible bidding war)
chelsea 20-30(bidding war with city)
arsenal - 15-20

Believe what you want mate. I wont come back and rub your nose in it when City do buy yaya coz i am not that type of person. But according to His agent and both the English and Spanish press a deal between City and Yaya is pretty much already done and will be anounced whenever his world cup is over. If you want to kid yourself that Chelsea will pay the price Barca need from this deal then go ahead. But you're fooling yourself:

"Manchester City are reportedly on the brink of sealing the £25million signing of Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure.
The Ivory Coast international admits he wants to move to the Barclays Premier League and outgoing Barca president Joan Laporta has confirmed that negotiations for his departure are at an advanced stage"

"sports paper El Mundo Deportivo say City will be the ones who clinch a deal and reunite the former Monaco man with his brother Kolo at Eastlands"

£25m = €30m which is what we want. Sorry if I've missed something CTID but I'm not sure what your point is. This is why the off season rumour mill does my head in because debating hypothetical situations gets nobody anywhere, I'll come back and debate the merits of any transfer as and when it happens, the bullshit can be left to the media as far as I'm concerned

I usualy agree with that point. Unless a player is stood with the Manager holding his new teams shirt then i disregard all the papers BS.

But in the case of the Toure transfer. Barcas own new President today said the deal to the premiership is at a very advanced stage and every single paper seem to say a deal with City is already done. They can't all be wrong at onece can they.

Looks like he's going to join his brother. He was a vital part of 08/09 and anyone who criticises him need to take a long hard look at themselves. He barely played in important games and when the diving Busquets is played instead of you, it's time to leave.

Good luck to him. I wish him every success.

if he's really off then I hope he does well.

sad he couldn't stay here, but his agent has been forcing him out for over a year. and couple that with his poor performances this season and there was only gonna be one outcome.

:(

He played well today in the game against Portugal

he was okay.

CR turned him inside out to get his epic shot away.

A real shame that we're letting him leave but perhaps that would be the best for him. But the past is past and we need to consider replacements;
Now that Mascherano seems destined to Inter, I think we should go for De Rossi. Years ago, I had favored De Rossi's signing over Toure's and he would be a perfect replacement. However, it remains to be seen whether Roma are keen on selling. Lately, we've been linked with Gerrard; but I wouldn't favor the move given his age and would rather opt for a more solid DM Makelele style instead.
