Still no Mina. Hmm.

With Paulinho being questionable to leave considering Valverde has a deep love of him for no explainable reason, and Coutinho obviously not going anywhere, things don't look good for Mina, who's stuck as our 4th choice CB and looks to be stuck there for at least another season following this one. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get loaned out like Marlon for multiple seasons.

Or if we accept the fact that Gomes, Denis, Mina, Marlon, Arthur and 10s of similar players whom we'll buy in the next 10 years are not "long term solutions" but just "attempts to hit a gem", "hit and miss" and "a gamble", then you won't be disappointed.

In a summer of 2017, a lot of guys thought that Marlon will be our important player. Remember posts: why are we looking for new Cbs? We have Marlon...
Look at what happened only 6 Months later and look at his current level of skills.

We paid Marlon 5M Euros, before Neymar's transfer raised prices.
So, it is quite possible that we would pay Marlon 7, 8 or 10M today.
And then, Mina's price was 10-12M, right?
Imo, both guys are just attempts and we'll see lots of similar attempts in the future.

Very likely Marlon won't end as our longterm solution.
Nor will Mina.

Some guys will ask: but why have we scouted him for so long then?
= because we wanted to find a cheap player who has some chances to be a hidden gem

If he turns into a gem=awesome
If he turns into an average player, which is way more likely=no harm, since he was quite cheap

With players like these, they will be estimated on training grounds and they will get a certain amount of matches but a club surely won't bench key players in order to test these gamble-youngsters for 30-40 matches.

Again, if you'll look at these transfers that way, it will make much more sense why Marlon or Mina don't play too much.
And why we'll buy another young new Cb in a summer (who will again get a similar treatment).

This probably sounds strange to fans who grew up during Pep's era where we had longterm solutions from La Masia (once in a lifetime worldclass level of players) and when we had some foreigners who stayed here for lots of years like Alves, Mascherano, Marquez.

But majority of things during Pep's era are a once in a lifetime things.
And our current hit and miss and gambling type of transfers is a normal way how we have always acted in 90s and 00s, and how all other big clubs are acting.

If you guys will lower your hopes of Mina, Arthur and if you'll look at them only at some of the many future "attempts", you'll lose less nerves and there won't be a need to post things such as: "Ev is an idiot" each two days, because he picked proven Nt level worldclass Cbs Pique, Umtiti and Vermaelen infront of guys like Mina.
