Zlatan Ibrahimovic

I laugh whenever I hear doping and football mentioned hand in hand. They all have such skinny, toned upper bodies. Where the hell does the steroid use go? Glutes? Even Ronaldo is ripped but skinny...and that's normal for someone who runs daily for a sport and does any kind of strength training.

Unless they consider a large list of regular supplements like creatine, which I don't know why theyd use it, illegal.

Ever heard of EPO? Stimulants?

Or Stanozolol that does not really build bulky muscle mass but allows you to retain muscle while loosing fat, normally impossible.

I very much doubt Ronaldo is not on something similar, considering his body fat % and muscle mass.

Not to mention that basic steroids are excellent for recovery after matches or training sessions, you can train harder , play more often without muscle fatigue.

Zlatan is 34 and plays every match , as fast as ever with no signs of fatigue, doping is basically certain.

Don't think he's as fast as ever, Zlatan has naturally lost a bit of pace with age. But he keeps himself in top shape and I wonder how much of that is due to his martial arts background.

Zlatan has never really been regarded as a fast player, an attribute that doesn't affect him much since it's wasn't a trait he relied on...

He is definitely not slow and never was, maybe not top acceleration but still quite fast. He doesn't seem to have lost any of it.

Anything to get an edge really. I was in fantastic shape cardiovascular wise when I was a bit younger. I could run forever when playing soccer or lacrosse. It just boggles my mind that professionally trained athletes with endless money and available, ideal diets can't play 2 games a week without cheating.

Bazinga!
Yeah, Zlatan was bad but Matuidi was the worse player for PSG in that game actually.

Can't believe the Swede actually manage to screw it with that chance of his...

Agree about Matuidi. I've never seen him play that bad.

Ibra missed that chance because he got pissed about the penalty and tried to score a great goal, instead of just scoring a regular one :)
He was the same every time he got a chance to shoot, too eager.
Also, he doesn't like Joe Hart for some reason, so it wasn't just about missed penalty... I think.

Yesterday, Zlatan has decided to sue Ulf Karlsson over doping accusations

For some days ago, a lawyer representing Ibra has said that the paper work formalizing the suit will be submitted to the court today. The laywer writes in a mail to a Swedish news agency:

Ulf Karlsson's statements are untrue, ungrounded and very serious for Zlatan as an individual, as an athlete and in relationship to his sponsors and co-operation partners. They must therefore be challenged, which is now done by pressing charges.

Tommy Lundberg, medical doctor and specialist in muscle physiology at Karolinska Institute:

If you look at the scientific literature and study it you will see that you cannot say what Ulf said, that it is impossible to gain 10kg in fat-free mass in six months.

- Why not?

If you take one of our studies as an example, when we put a number of people on the exact same training regime one gained 20% of his body mass in muscle and another one 0.5%, in other words nothing. So you will see that there is a huge variation in how people respond to strength training in terms of muscle gain. People rarely consider this and instead base their assumptions on averages (...) It is a very high figure, it's noteworthy, but you can't say it's impossible.

Ulf Karlsson himself in an open letter:

During the debate I expressed myself a both unclear and unfortunate way about Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I understand now, in hindsight, that what I said can be interpreted as an accusation, and that is deeply regrettable. It was not at all my intent. I therefore wish to apologize to Zlatan and to the others that may have taken offense from my insinuating statements.

Zlatan's agent Mino Raiola on Ulf Karlsson:

His life will be divided into "before the suit" and "after the suit"

That doctor is right though, you cant gain that much fat free mass in six months. Take in mind how shady Juve is as a club and their doped up past its not weird to connect the dotts to see him going from ecto ajax player to muscular man at Juve in six months.
Same way how Bale whent gorilla within a year after joining Real being a skinny dude.

It is pretty naive to think that there is no doping in football. Of course you can not reproduce the vision of Xavi or Messi's technique by giving random athletes doping but there are reasons Barca's, Bayern's or Real's players are able to play more than 60 games in a season and are still able to run around 10km every game.
I think especially in that area, to recover from injuries and being able to get 100% out of your body every day, there are substances used. There is just too much money involved in football so we will never see anybody bust that whole thing. And more money also means more chances to win "the race" with anti doping agencies. If you have all possibilities to use stuff that is not yet discovered by anti doping agencies, you are hard to catch.
There is no comparison to some random woman from White Russia who uses basic steroids to win a Gold Medal in Shot put e.g. It is certain those athletes get busted because they use some cheap stuff that you get tested for since 20 years. But football is a multi billion dollar business and they have all possibilities in all areas.

perfectly said, only question about that theory is why nobody comes forward to spill the beans? with so many people involved someone must grow a conscience at some point and blow the whistle.
