Las Palmas this season:
- 3 points (zero wins but they did have a good home draw vs Madrid) in first 9 games. At that point they were on a 23 games winless streak going back to second half of last season but ofc they got a new coach in summer when Pimienta left.
- coaching change, Diego Martinez replace Luis Carrion
- 19 points (6W, 1D, 2L) in next 9 games, including a win at Montjuic
- winless in 10 games in 2025, they only managed to get three draws, one of them against dead last Valladolid two weeks ago and the one last night against another relegation candidate Alaves when they've scored two goals in added time.
Don't think I've ever seen anything like that. Even when you have poor teams they usually manage to luckily scrap a win or two out of 10 games. Ofc we've seen new coaches taking over struggling teams and have positive impact before but you don't see a team that has not won in 8 months suddenly playing in a CL form for two months (between rounds 10-18 they've had same points as Athletic and only both Madrid clubs had more) and then after turn of the year they fall of the cliff again and not win for two months (and counting).
This must be a mental problem because I think they have some good players and also play solid football but when they are down they don't find a way to get that one win that would probably turn their fortune again. So hopefully they will start winning soon because I would def prefer to see them stay in La Liga over likes of Leganes or Alaves, ofc also Espanyol (but think Joan Garcia will keep them up).
Also interesting timing of their good form kind of co-existed with Barca's dip in form. Maybe clubs have exchanged their players for a month and nobody realized that. They possibly also "forgot" to give us back Lewy so we still have Sandro.

Well tbf they are on a similar level these days so not sure we really lost anything.
