Expect goals benfica 3.26 v 3.69

That opened us at will, deal with it and move on.

Take away Woj fuck up. The fuck up was as a direct result of the freaking high line.

😂

They could open us up at will, everyone saw it, deal with it.

Expected goals benfica side might be a bit inflated due to 2nd goal which was player going at an empty goal.

Not sure lol. They had chances yes.

You still don't know how to use x stats, after SO MANY TIMES that I have told you how to

xgoals sum says little, it includes penalties for instance and it does not individuate the different-value chances

Learn, and stop embarrassing yourself

That too. It might have been something like 0.9 xG

The gist is: we NEVER look at the overall sum, because it's deceptive.
20 shots of 0.05 each gives you an xG of 1. Yet no team scores from 20 shots of 0.05: that;s the value of shooting way outside the box with many bodies in-front for instance

We look at the big chances, any individual chance of over 0.35 xG in itself

Balde had the runner covered at the 2nd goal. Goal was a total gift by Tek. For the other 3 yes, there were defensive issues, but not due to the high line this time. Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi simply covered their area too slowly.

First goal. Switch to the blind side, Kounde joggs and is lazy in covering the cross, Benfica guy crosses unbothered, Araujo is only concerned with his man, ball goes to the other striker who is marked poorly by Cubarsi.

2nd goal is simple.

3rd goal is a dangerous action by Benfica due to Araujo's poor ball-playing ability. Doesn't know how to positions himself to receive a pass, is flatfooted often. There is a turnover in a dangerous position and Benfica builds a nice attack through a string of quick passes that lead to the stupid pen caused by Tek. Goal, despite errors preceding it from our defense, is preventable if Tek stays put.

4th goal also starts from Kounde half-assing it in covering his wing and blocking the cross. Then Araujo does his thing by commiting instead of informing himself first. Maybe Kounde thought he is Dani Alves after he scored some goals lately. Well, he isn't, so he'd better pay attention in defense, because that's supposed to be his thing.

Neither goal is directly due to the high line. Most are due to individual errors. Of course, if you don't play a high line, more players can participate in defense and such errors can be stopped in time. With a high-line, you fuck-up, you are toast as all the players are occupying advanced positions. But then, if you drop your positions in a lower-block, you get more defensive solidity and compactness, but lose the ability to create as many chances as we do.

The only systemic problems that have been exploited by Benfica were some bad turnovers by Araujo, Casado, Gavi, and Yamal. The first three gave the ball away when they shouldn't have, and Yamal was trying some unnecessary fancy tricks, reminding me of the worst moments of Neymar.

Irrelevant.

Expected goals was 3 vs us, because they opened us at will due to our high line.

While you are here telling us to ignore one of their goals, like it wasn't as a direct result of our high line and their own efforts that it was created.

They scored 4 goals against us 4!!

Fuck outta here with your bullshit.

It was poor game by us. Point blank period. That only changed after flick went to a back 3.

Before that then benfica coach has his number and we couldn't do shit, while they opened us on the counter at will.

As everyone who watched the game has said

I included that goal in the tally: 4 big chances for Benfica, excluding penalties
6 for Barca

No matter how you twist and turn it around, we WERE BETTER and DESERVED to win based on chances.
PERIOD

and that in a poor game...

Acting like Benfica wasn't ahead and we needed a random miracle goal to. Get back into the game

We were not better, it was 50/50 at best before flick change to a back 3.

And 50/50 is being generous, just look at the match chat, benfica definitely better in the first half.

Trying to act like it was an incredible game for Barca.

It was NOT.

It was just an incredible game generally and wonderful come back.

At zero point did I saw we deserve to lose..

Try to turn it however you guys want, no on will remember this as a great game of football for FC Barcelona, just a great comeback

We’ve scored 94 goals in 31 games this season.

More than 3 goals plus game, a ratio higher than even prime MSN’s ratio of 2.92 per game.

And that MSN had the best ever versions of Messi, Suarez, and Neymar

I can’t imagine what he’d do with such attacking talent

Prolly a manita every game.

One of the things I like about him, is his press conferences.

Did very well in this one, admitted we were the 2nd best team in the first half and made many mistakes, but didn't blame any individual player.

He knows how to handle the press

MSN and Flick would probably have lasted less than 6 months together .
Nah, the 14-15 version of MSN was hardworking, even Messi and especially Suarez and Neymar.

The other two years they got lazy after the treble. So Flick wouldn’t like that version.

Flick's never had the players to achieve an MSN style but hopefully for our future and Yamal the club will start selling and buying the right players to get closer to what made us so great in the past. Scoring normal goals all the time isn't exciting.

You know if Johan was Barca coach now he would love game like this. Hansi definitely follows Johan's ideal.
