Joan Laporta

I was trying to type Laporta !, and my keyboard wouldn't allow it.

The only letter allowed to follow is name is W.

Jamrock W as well, I've been telling them for years now, they're some intangibles in leadership that some have and others simply lack.

People said it was the board and all sort of non sense.

I told them the levers was the right thing to do, you can't just give up being competitive and start again whenever you choose.

Time value of money
Opportunity cost
Leadership qualities

Concepts fans need to familiarize themselves with.

At the end of the day, he is getting the job done and bringing Barca back!

He made mistakes, sure, in a very difficult situation.

But the most important thing is that he's a true leader and that has shone through. He made a lot of tough decisions and they are paying off.

People love to judge decisions based on what they would have done, rather than actually getting shit done. That's the same old story in everything. Whether it is people talking about politics in the family gatherings, sports in the bar, clients of yours who has no idea about whatever they are talking about.

It is usually in a hindsight, that people appreciate success/greatness. Either when those became history or when you actually find you have to make a decision about them (voting).

Laporta was called every bad name in the book during his terms, but no one dared to stood against him in 2006, and when he left people claimed he is our greatest ever president. I was the one of those btw, but tbf his first term was in my high school and college years.

If we manage to win big this year, then it is the same tale again. And would only cement his legacy.

One thing people need to realize, Laporta is deeply connected, and he has access to advices and people that knows their shit, more than most candidates would dream off.

People think Perez is some sort of a genius, but whenever he opens his mouth you will realise that he is far from it. He just knows how to put folks in the best position to succeed, and cares above the club above anyone else. Laporta is from the same cloth, without the billions though.

Truth is La Masia saved his hide.

Gotta give him props for rapha & kunde signings though 🙌

These coming 3 months are the most crucial of Laporta's entire presidential career, this time is a legacy defining time. As a matter of fact, if both the men's and women's team continue their insane work and form, Barcelona could become the first club to win 2 trebles in both men's and women's football in the same season and the first club to win a treble of trebles in both departments. If this does happen, Laporta will cement himself as the greatest FC Barcelona president of all time indefinitely.

Nunez deserves bigger recognition. He's the man who started La Masia in 1979 and by accident brought Johan Cruyff after the 1988 players' rebellion (including then manager Luis Aragones). As it usually develops, when you are in charge for over 2 decades you start to lose sense of reality.

Laporta was the perfect guy to lead the club into the new age. His second term could be even more remarkable, if we achieve the desired results both on and off the pitch.

It's the same as in politics. People are upset all the time and stupidly assume that the next guy will keep all that the current guy did well and improve on his shortcomings. That never happens in the real world. When Laporta goes, so does his experience, deep care about this club, his ambitions, his connections, his vision. Not only his nepotism, his politician's lies or what people don't like about him.

Easiest thing in the world is to be unhappy and negativistic.

Laporta is a damn great president either way. If someone would have told me in 2021 that we'd be in contention for a treble in April 2025 I would have called that person crazy.

I'm at an age where perfection is utopic. Laporta delivered in what matters most and that is what I care about.
True, this is the correct view that will inevitably remain among the people when he leaves as well

Back when he arrived we were in deep shit, nowhere near the level of top teams, loaded with footballers that had no idea how they got to play for Barça and a group of veterans that have no motivation and physically can't offer top level anymore

Now we are one of the best, if not the best, team in Europe with a squad consisting of extremely talented youngsters on one and hard working experienced professionals on the other side, along with a sextuple winner coach

People were moaning when Messi left but look back now, it was the best for everybody. We needed a massive rebuild, it took some time but it's finally here

He just knows what he's doing and people can moan all they want trying to tell us otherwise... Everybody thinks they know better than him and Laporta is clueless, incompetent yet results over the last few years prove that to be obviously wrong.

I wouldn't say we are the best yet, but the trajectory in the last 2-3 seasons is constatly up. If we had money to spend on 2-3 players, the current Barcelona would be a damn scary team in the next decade. I tend to think long term. Imagine this side, with 2-3 top tier transfers, new 100k stadium kicking in... I wouldn't like to face that team if I supported another club.

Even with modest spending, to be in a position to win a treble, I really don't think there's another club who could pull that off in 2025. Not one. We can be proud of the club no matter what. Only thing I'd be hugely disappointed about in this season is not making it past Dortmund. The rest is nothing to be very upset about. Even if we end up trophyless.

I hope we reach that stage, once again, where we become our own worst enemy. Like 1993/94 Barca that got even Cruyff talk way off confident.

Barca have had a much better squad than many let on for a few years now and the second best generation of La Masia.. maybe even the best for how firts team ready they are.

The squad is not perfect.. but there isnt one that is currently.

Whether Barca win the credit and blame will be given out.

Some will blame certain players if lose and credit others and Laporta if win when truth is all will deserve credit for it.

Look at the situation with the manager. Was Laporta right to sack Xavi for negativistic thinking, looking at what Flick did so far with pretty much the same players Xavi would've got? Absolutely spot on judgement. When you are in a position where you don't have enough budget to compete with the top 5-6 teams, the ambition and the motivation to go full in with what you do have, your own weapons that everyone knows about at this point, that becomes key and has to be fully 100%. No compromise.

It's the power of letting go of frustrations about what you don't have compared to other teams, and go full on with what you do have that others only dream about. You should bet every other team out there would love to have somebody like Yamal promoted through their own team. But they don't. They have to outsource those talents for 60m+.

The budget argument has always been a poor one really though.

Barca have had more value coming through and growing in team than just about any side who spent big.

La Masia and quality of players already there was too often ignored in ability to build a top squad.

Flick has come in and energised it and put positivity back in way.. also by sounds of players a more professional and focuses regime behind scenes also.
